How is the coax output with Rockbox? Does it work okay?

Great news, indeed! I never wanted to put Rockbox on my Cowon players because the builds seemed unstable.

Nobody has mentioned it yet, but I can test it tonight on my desktop setup.  I suspect with it being an uncommon hardware feature for most players that use the Android base, so it may require some additional implementation?

That is what I figured. I need it to go into my standalone DAC, but every firmware has its own quirks about SQ, so I'm hoping this would give me a flat response.

Guys for all who tested rockbox..

Can i get your impression for the sq diff between rockbox 1.2.8 ?

I have been testing the whole day may be more than 30 songs, by switching between both players.

I listen to rockbox eq off then change to mango directly and listen to same song, i feel its better on 1.2.8, i feel it got wider sound stage and better details, problem is when i switch back to rockbox again, i feel no difference hahahaha

So it seems i went crazy or something, anyway its good to hear others impressions.

Also a tip, when a folder contains too many flacs on rockbox, the scroll isnt smooth and a bit slugish, i increased the scroll width from the theme settings, and used the fat scroll to go down and up, its much easier and faster.

My quick impression so far is Rockbox at default(all settings at 0dB) the response is ruler flat. It makes the orig FW a bit colored especially on the lows. If you like that you still can do so in Rockbox by tinkering on the EQ. I have not done a critical comparison yet. Just trying to listen to as much music with Rockbox first.

I don't know if I notice any change in soundstage, but I thought Rockbox appears to resolve more details especially the micro details, which is more obvious on a few classical songs I listened to so far.

EDIT: It just brings everything out from the recordings, even the minute nuisance. It's just raw. The orig FW sounds like overly smooth and trimmed.

does anybody else get the following error when trying to play from database?

*Panic*
Stkov audio

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

This is what I want, because I'm coaxing into a pretty good Dac and then into a Lyr with good vintage tubes. Starting with a colored source causes me all sorts of problems.

Do a factory reset from the settings menu of the original firmware. I had that error initially.

Digital out should be a raw digital signal from the DAP to the external DAC for processing, so technically speaking any firmware or settings shouldn't have an effect?  That was my understanding anyway, but I could very well be wrong
