I've joined the club :)

Welcome Sir! What room number would you like?

Btw, this hotel was formerly known as hotel California:
You can check-out any time you like,
but you can never leave!

Kindly provide impressions when you get them! Bcos I have an eye for the Athena too. Are you a mid-head?

I wouldn't say I'm a mid-head...or a bass-head...or a treble-head. I often find myself listening for what isn't there, which is a pretty negative way of approaching things, but generally I try to match my headphones to the music they sound best with. With the Solar I'm thinking guitars and vocals. They'll be my rock & indie IEM - and hopefully my last IEM period.

My opinion is honestly (Im always honest) The Solar is good with every stlye of music. If the track has a guy playing a piano or he is playing the piano and singing the Solar will do it justice. If the track has a DJ the Solar will make you feel as if you are in the club. If the track has five guys playing Metal you will have your horns in the air.

I do the same.. Except for the part about listening to what isn't there - the negative approach. But the part about trying to find with which music an iem will perform best, and using it as a specialist for that.

I absolutely love bass, love mids and love treble; and I can enjoy very different signatures. Midforward iems like the 8.A and Zeus, U-shaped like the Velvet and S-EM9 or balanced like the Solar.

That being said, I do find the Solar one of the most allround iems I have as @jmills8 points out.

Same boat as you! W500 incoming but the Solar just keeps getting mentioned as a true TOTL contender here and there. Anywhere to audition it in Singapore? (I can categorically confirm that there's no place I can audition it in Malaysia).

None that I know of, unfortunately.

By the way, is there supposed to be a big difference between the custom and the universal version? May be @Solarsammy can shed some light on this.

There seems to be some sort of odd trend going on there...i too am a W500 owner (it's back in the shop for a reshell, i had my impressions redone, was getting more bass on one side but drivers checked out fine).

The W500 is fun, but i am looking for a tad more treble energy.

Never thought of myself being a treblehead, but hey, i guess things change when one gets older.

I'm mulling between the Solars and the JH Angie...decisions, decisions.

I love Bass but the music has to have what the engineer put in the track. Meaning treble has to be detailed and mids have to be clear and bass has to go deep and punch hard when the track calls for it.

I missed energy but also sparkle in the treble - because of this I felt it lacked a bit of excitement.

@subguy812 has the Angie and Solar, maybe he can shed some light on this for you later.

So I got the universal Solar this morning, first thing that struck me is the great build quality followed by the amazing fit (for my ears at least) in many ways it reminds of the InEar Stagediver SD2 in terms of it being a great fit for me..I can achieve a great seal using the M/L spiral dot tips!

Early days regards thoughts on sound, but I can tell this iem is gonna be one of my favorites..It does a lot well, very well in fact when it comes to genres and is a very non fatiguing experience so you will be able to just sit on your rear end for hours enjoying audio bliss!!

Currently enjoying it with my Sony zx2,Chord Hugo and some Zack Hemsey!! an amazing experience!

Very nice...enjoy. My first impression was mixed, after my first hour it changed and after 20+ it is a WOW.

I was going to wait a little longer for adjustment time or burn-in, whatever you believe, before I did a review but I feel I can probably, safely and objectively do one by the end of next week.
