[REVIEW] VSONIC GR07 – Labor of Love
Jan 29, 2011 at 10:40 PM Post #16 of 583
Just got news that lendmeurears.com will be stocking the GR07 at the end of Feb / early March as the new batch of GR07 arrives. The current batch has all went out to the China local market and the factory has been closed for the 2 weeks Chinese New Year holidays. The final price will be around US$150~$155 due to the currently weak USD exchange.

Just curious, how deep do they go into your ear canal?  I hope not too deep.

Not very deep. I am using Sony hybird eartips now (which is the same eartips on most of current Sony IEM) so you can imagine they are not going to go very deep like tri-flanges. However you can still go deeper with the included bi-flanges.

These seem interesting... and most importantly, affordable. Would you say that if I liked the RE262, I would like these as well?

GR07 is not quite as euphonic / musical as RE262, but if you like a warm yet fairly neutral sound from a dynamic transducer, I think you probably will enjoy GR07.

I LOVED the sound of the r02 (and I still enjoy it over a few top tiers now and again). My original aim on head fi was to found that iem with over ear fit, better isolation and improved soundstage and detail. So far, nothing.

Would you say that the GR07 is similar to the r02?

There are several edition of R02 now. The original, the silver cord edition and a new flagship edition. I have with me is the silver cord or Pro II version. GR07 in comparison has less bass / mid-bass but is able to go deeper into the sub-bass region. The mid is also more upfront when compared to R02. Treble is presented in similar fashion but GR07 has better micro detail. Soundstage wise GR07 has the upper hand with a better pan out / separated image. R02 is more enveloped.. Overall I have to say GR07 is less fun to listen than R02. If it is R02 type of sound signature you like, GR07 probably isn't for you.

Having a hard time choosing my next reasonably priced IEM, I've had the DBA-02 and RE-ZERO and was impressed by the detail of both, but really didn't like the lack of fun with both of them - My choices atm are either -

Sunrise sw Xcape Ver.2
Monster Copper Pro
Miles Davis Tributes
Vsonic gr07
ECCI PR401

Ahhhhhh!

I won't really classify GR07 to be fun sounding. RE-ZERO sounds more fun to me.

ClieOS, how will you rank these among the top iems?

It is among some of the best IEM I ever have, 'comparable with different pros and cons' is how I would described it, but not the absolute best. Given the price however, I think it is a huge bargain, even more than DBA-02.

bit the bullet. will compare them with re262 and eq5 soon!

I am looking forward to your impression!
