Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Ok.  Finally got the manual and opened up the v800.

Do I lift both the XLR-ground LIFT Jumper (positioned at XLR input) and the Ground LIFT Jumper (positioned near AC power chord)?

For balanced output level:
The diagram seems to be backwards.  My default factor setting was set 1,2,3,4,to off position. Instead of the all being on to +15dBu.
What would be the lowest setting?  Position 1 on and 2,3,4 off?

Lifted the grounds on v800.  Robert I saw had already lifted the ground on my v200.
The presentation is more clean and with more detail. But on my Grado Magnums, it does sound a little brighter.

I did lower the gain on the v800 to 12.  May lower to 6.

Did not like the ground lifted on XRL.  Too bright.
Left ground on chassis lifted on both V200 and V800.

Did set the V800 to lowest level 6+ and V200 to 0.

This setting proved the best.

Anyone ever compared it to the Rega DAC?

I have. Rega DAC is very enjoyable - warm, fun, very easy to listen to. But it's not a very resolving DAC, and at the end of the day it didn't seem satisfying to use with a flagship headphone like HD800 or T1. Maybe it would be a better match for an HD600? But with HD800 I felt like I was wasting the extra resolution that model has.

V800 is in a whole different league.

Ok, I just ordered both - I'm going to use one of them with my "Mid-Fi" speaker system. Let's see which one goes back to the dealer :)
Got the Rega for 580 Euro, the Violectric for 980 ... gonna be a toughie, I'm sure!
