[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret

decided to try this out seeing that there is nothing much to lose (paid about 16.15 usd for it shipped here:http://www.ebay.ph/itm/360831700210?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649) been browsing through some of the pages and just have some noobie questions to ask:

1.Does MH1+ipod(classic,rockboxed) benefit from a amp (a fiio e6 specifically seen some going for 22 usd from a local place slighly used) SQ wise (or would only affect volume)
2.Any Specific things to do or look for like during break in ?(how long , specific noise to play, volume...etc?)

Still cant get over how great they sound without an eq

Have a problem with loudness on my mh1. My right phone started to sound much quieter. Tried to clean the filter, but only way to make it much loudier(but after that loss of bass and loudier then left phone)  to remove mesh. Is there any advice how to clean the mesh or to make a mesh replacment?

Yeah many ppl have this problem. Apparently it has something to do with temperature/pressure drops when you bring your earphone around different environments. This subsequently causes condensation about the right speaker diaphragm of the MH1C, not sure why the left one is not affected though.

Just try leaving the MH1C to warm up and it should sound normal again, this means that that you cannot move around with the earphone too much in varying temperature places. Quite sad actually.

No

Make sure they're actually in your ears while you're burning them in.

I bought a pair MH1Cs last year and loved them so much that I bought a second pair when I (unfortunately) lost them. I just received my new pair today but noticed some differences:

My original pair had papery filters and the 4 pairs of eartips were semi-transparent.
This new pair doesn't have the papery material and the eartips are firmer and opaque. There are also only 3 pairs of eartips. Other than the eartips and filters, everything looks pretty much the same, including the bulk packaging and clip.

I've seen a couple of photos online where the eartips are semi-transparent and the filter is papery. Does anyone know of a different variant similar to my second pair? Just want to make sure I don't have a fake, because I purchased off eBay.

Thanks!

The MH1C and MH1 have different-looking filters.
The MH1C (as far as I know) usually come with 4 sets of tips and the MH1 with 4 sets plus extra coloured (orange or green) tips, but tips vary.

That's a cool mod but I'd rather keep mic functionality. Sat and played guitar for 30 minutes today with the MH1 in my ears and monitoring the inline mic and was amazed by the rich signal it picked up. Even my voice sounded gorgeus through it.

i want to confirm, so with that adapter cable, it will make the MH1's compatible with regular 3.5mm mp3 players? (eg. sansa clip etc)
