[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret

Question about the mod with blocking the vents: The top vent should have a at least a pinhole, but I am getting really good results without it, so when the hole is fully closed.
The frequency response seems almost straight from bass to mids, without any tilt. How much is the risk of damaging the driver?
sorry for my english

Well I guess I can answer:
I put the tape today on the top vent.
left phone dead now. I would guess after max 30 minutes of listening to bass-heavy electronic music with my z3 compact with viper4android with +10db bass boost at 66hz.

I'm now wondering about the same thing for the IE8

But why did you boost the bass with eq when you've just taped it to lower the bass?

I recommend trying to tape just the top vent and leave the back vent open, it lowers the mid bass, but the deep bass stays strong. Someone may like it.

I've already bought an adaptor that doesn't work with the MH1.

Pictures look exactly like the MH1C's that I own. Diffucult to know for sure.  Didn't even consider these would have 'clones' given they sell for so little money.

hi all
is the sony mh1 still a good IEM by today standars? I found it at 10$ and it would cost me another 5-10$ to recable - hope it isn't that hard to do .
Right now I'm using an old KOSS PLUG wich I like because of the confort profided by their foam tips
Also the MH1 recabled  should be better than Philips SHE 3590 ?  that's also around 10$ .

I read this thread around 3 years ago after accidently bought MW1 and surprised by the sound quality of the iem. Further research brought me to this thread.

Quite surprised this thread is still going n growing stronger I notice ..

This little gem really compliment my grado 60 and electrostatic home speaker .. yes it is that good if u got the right MH1.
(but mine has short cable -the MW1 set)

Just got my mh1. Did a recable- the j cord not a big problem but cable microphonics are a no go.
Not really impressed . It seems I can't find confortable tips. No good seal no bass.
Also my phone needs more power to run them.
I'm getting some foam buds tommorow . Has anyone had experince with foamies?
