Then you will be better to spend a little more for PFE122 instead of PFE022. I'll still call R50 the better sounding IEM, but PFE122 is closer to R50 than PFE022. PFE022 will be closer to SE215.

Hi ClieOS. I ve been using Sennheiser buds(CX 300 & 300-II) . both of them got worn out. so am thinking of getting these. am a heavy user. so how long do u think the cables will last. (mind u my first CX 300-II pair broke within 3 months due to cabling issues. had them replaced with new ones and they lasted for about 5 months).

The cable itself is actually quite thick and durable, certainly much better built than that on CX300. However, it really depends on how you use it.

Let's say I want to have the wider natural (not artificial) sound stage, great vocal/instrument separation and great quality bass (not boosted bass).
Can you suggest among: Shure SE535, Westone UM3X & Westone 4R, which one is a best upgrade IEM for SE215 which I can feel a significant (dramatic) improvemnt in sound quality comparing to SE215.
 
In term of comfort which is best: SE535,  UM3X or 4R?

I never find either if them to be discomfort, but I think UM3X has the best fit for me.
 
Never listen to all three at the same time, so I can't say in 100% certainty - however, if you are asking me which of the three I believe to have the best, most refined of SQ, my vote go like this: W4 > UM3X > SE535.

I bought a pair for a friend and he apparently wore them cable down for almost a year before figuring out the over-ear configuration.

Personally I think the more important thing with the SE215 is finding the right tips.

Honestly i have no idea how wearing it not over the ears is comfortable at all, since i find the 215 very fitting. But of course a subjective outlook..

Anyway, i love the 215 so far. I used to own Sennheisser CX300-II, Bose IE2 (whoops) and I can say 215 is an enlightenment (you can laugh at this but i admit i'm totally n00b lol). Question; i use the 215 with my Galaxy Nexus and over time i find power to be an issue. On the same song, for example Bocelli's "Because We Believe" (PMC file at 1411kbps 44.1Hz) on Nexus sounds enjoyable in vocals, but when i plug into the Xonar Phoebus control box i get the magnitude of the song that was missing on my nexus.

Price is everything. You can find exceptionally good sounding single BA based IEM like the Phonak PFE on $150~170 and it can compare to SE425 / SE535 level of sound, so people who do their research won't buy SE315 even if it is $150. Not to mention other really good $150to 200ish options such as Etymotic ER4, Radius DDM and VSONIC GR07. So even if SE315 is $150, it is still a weak option to consider and only looks appearing to those who haven't done enough research on the alternatives. When there ain't that many SE315 owner around, of course you won't see much review about it or how good/bad it is.

The reason why SE215 is so popular is because it is only $99. Historically we used to see Shure price IEM with SE215 level of SQ to be around $150, if not more. If Shure had priced SE215 to be that high, most of us won't be interested on it at the first place, much like SE315 right now. Price is everything.

Chin slider is the piece of sliding plastic above the Y-splitter that used to secure the cable right underneath the chin, so the cable won't move around.  For running, the issues that most people can't get used to are bone conduction and microphonics (see Guide to IEM in my sig. if you have no idea what they are). If you don't have any specific reason to use IEM for running, getting an half decent sport earbuds is the easiest way to go.

 

Well, after reading a good amount of post I came back to re-read this one. The quote above has driven me to deside on trying out the GR07's. They are more then I was planing to spend but seems they are worth the tag.

I bought the SE215s based on this review. Absolutely no regrets. Excellent sound quality when you find the right tip and position in the ear and there is a perfect seal. I could do with a little more bass though. The noise isolation is great, and will drive you crazy when eating with these in. For me wearing over ear gives a better seal, but wearing them 'down' is in no way uncomfortable.

Hello. I am in need of some IEMs for around $100. I plan on pairing them with a Fiio E17. I am very interested in these se215s, but am on the fence on whether to buy the originals or the LTD Edition for $20 more. Is there a noticeable difference to justify purchasing the LTDs? Someone please respond and thank you.
