Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings

Mar 7, 2017 at 12:50 AM Post #4,321 of 7,142
SQ wise which one is better between QP1R vs QP1 vs AK240, right now I have AK100ii looking for upgrade, happy with it but wanted to try something new. I am looking for only for SQ upgrade, more resolution, like if AK100ii is 1080 display, I want 1920.

I sent my AK240SS back in 2 days. I have had my Questyle QP1R for several weeks and cannot stop listening to it. I think that says it all.

Make sure you put your artist file folders as the main folders with all of the appropriate albums in their their own folders, inside the respective artist folder.

I am happy with my Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GMs, but wish to explore other headphones that pair well with the Questyle QP1R. Any suggestions?

The first page of this thread is a pretty good start ...

During the around month that I had the Vega on loan, I used High gain with the QP1R.

I rarely use other gains with anything that I listen to nowadays.

Thanks man - will crank the gain and see if that brings then out of their shell a bit. Getting great results with other iems (as expected), but just been noticing a little flatness compared to running the Vega balanced out of the high voltage portable powerhouse that is the Supermini. Hoping high gain brings that back out, as the SQ is pretty stellar in all other aspects.

Hi, I have a question. Do the songs have to be stored on the internal storage for the artist names to show up? If they're stored in the TF card, will the QP1R still be able to sort the tracks by Artist, Album, etc?

Also, this may be quite stupid but, how come none of the songs I loaded onto the Internal Storage or TF Cards 1 and 2 are reflected in the Play By Category options? The only tracks that appear under "Songs", "Album", "Artist" and "Genre" are the three pre-loaded tracks on the QP1R.

Hi frapp, makes no difference whether tracks on internal memory or on card. If you have updated library, then I would guess your tracks do not have metadata filled in for artist, album, etc. If you have a PC, download free mp3tag and right click on your stored music folders. Then check each track has artist, album, track number, genre completed. Also check album art, which can be embedded into each track or provided by a jpg in each folder. If picture missing because you have relied on an iTunes separate database before, mp3tag can obtain image from Amazon and insert into each track.

If you know all this, then problem lies elsewhere!

This will enable browsing by folder, but to use the Artist tag, it is the metadata within the tracks that needs to be correct.

Oh, I figured it out already. "Update media lib" was set to "Manual", that's why it detected only the pre-loaded tracks. I changed it to "Auto" and the other songs now appear.

Thanks for the tip, @AndrewH13! I'll be sure to download mp3tag and take note of this for future reference.

The other option is to click Manual after adding tracks to memory card. I do it this way but not sure why! Maybe Auto would save a step?

It was set to Manual when I added tracks to the memory card and the newly added tracks wouldn't show up when I browsed by category. The only way I could access them then was to go through the "Browse Files" option.

When you press Manual, it goes blue. If you press again it does a Manual update of card.

Is there anyway to organize artists together on a playlist if added at different times. Seems that they display in order added to list.

You can do it with Notepad. See this thread, but keep in mind most of it is not applicable if you already have the playlist. Once you have the playlist open in Notepad, you can reorder the songs.

Guys, Just updated to V1.0.8 and I have to say I am very disappointed. My playlists are now separate into albums. Lets say for example I have a playlist for U2 containing 56 of my favourite songs taken fro various albums released over the years. I now can't just select artist and it will play the 56 songs I have choose like before. It now breaks the playlist down further by separating it into Albums. I may have 4 songs on 1 alum, 5 on the next etc

All my music is in playlist like this, both on iTunes and JRiver. It's very rare I like every single song on an album (aka album fillers or skippers)

How is this useful or considered to be an update?

I have only just updated is there a way around this? This is the 1st time I have had an issue with my QP1R but I have to say if this can't be worked around it would be a deal breaker for me.

Hopefully some of you have updated some time ago to V1.0.8 and have a simple solution you can share please.

Looking for a high quality cable 3.5 mm to RCA to use my QP1R with Jot amp. What have people used and liked??

I like the Audioquest "bridge" series cables. The Golden Gate for instance.

Will the Golden Gate 3.5 mm plug fit into the recessed well of the LO jack on the QP1R? I had trouble with another brand. Also is there that much of a difference between a $65 cable and a $10 one for line out to an amp??
