Review of the all new Beyerdynamic T5p dynamic Headphone.

Thanks for the review

As for isolation one of the most important aspect of closed headphones? As good as DT 770 Pro? Or closer to ED 8 level of isolation?
I take for granted it´s better then the D7000?
Is the leather pads as soft as on the ED 8.

I get the feeling it´s quite a trebly headphone from the review if it´s colder then both the T1 and ED 8?

I don't know about that....could be as beyer really knows what they're doing, but it seems too different from the D7000s to make a direct comparison.

Softer than ED8 pads.
Excellent isolation. ED8 has a little better isolation. It has a tad better isolation than the D7000.
I dont find them treble heavy at all. Probably less than T1. But we all have different ear sensitivities.

It is definetly a different sound signature than the D7000. The D7000 is warmer.

MH was referring to isolation. Woodies seem to have a trouble with that. markl D5000 having virtually none. DX 1000 having slightly more but being far from stellar in that regard. As for Fostex versus Beyer Fostex at least experiments with orthos so I am biased to them  Didn´t enjoy the markl D5000 much though but then wasn´t sold on the T1 either so it´s still a tie .

But slightly colder then the ED 8 and slightly warmer then the T1? Can´t be big difference here if it manage to sneak in between the two in tonal balance?
ED 8 is about as bright as I can take it these days. My wallet says puh :p

Me neither except the ED 8 is really bright on my Ipod. It does lack sub bass :) But jumping from the LCD-2 means just about all my other headphones get trebly. Going from the LCD-2 to the T1 or Pro 900 you have to readjust the ears quite a bit due to the different treble balance.

This is a good review in the sense that it's nice to read, not to long, not too short, has a good structure and very nice pictures. But it's also the kind of review that doesn't tell me anything about the sound of the headphone at all. And sound it is that matters in the end (not exclusively, of course).

Now that have the T5 I can see somewhere between the lines what you could have meant...but with the T5 on my head and reading your review it could as well be about a completely different headphone. Or "headphones", as I know more then a few headphones that could fit to the vague descriptions used in the review.

I hope this criticism isn't too harsh or hard. It's just my opinion.

The sound of this headphone will depend largely on Amp, Source and choice of music. I used a very neutral setup to try and get the most generic idea of what the headphones will sound like. On my Cary CAD 300SEI Tube Amp,  the headphones sound completely different than on the setup I used for review. I obviously cant write a review for ever system scenario out there. But once I have spent some more time with the phones I will post some more comments. In the end, everyone hears things differently. Each eardrum is unique. So one guy may find them bright and the next find them warm. So it is more important for each individual to make there own analogy of the sound signature with his own surroundings.

interesting,  i figured the lcd2 would be brighter than t1,  but must be more neutral.   i just worried they would be too sharp;

Have you seen the FR graphs for the LCD-2s....they are warmish headphones with somewhat recessed treble. The T1s (IMO) have better treble (and still not bright). Hopefully (as I fully expect), the Silver Dragon LCD-2 cable from Moon Audio will help in that regard (hopefully here next week).

It will do the trick.

Great...now if USPS/Canada Post would just deliver it.

Well I am sure they fit, but I was just curious if T1 sounds the same with the T5p leather pads. Because they sound crap with other beyer leather pads.

It's not likely that they'll sound the same unless the T5p pads have some serious venting or something, which is doubtful since they're supposed to offer good isolation.  But different pad materials let in/out different amounts of air, so they can't sound the same.
