hmm I'm pinned between the RE-400's and the ATH-CKM500...roughly close in price but im torn between the two.

can anyone compare and contrast these two pls? thanks

These two earphones couldn't be further from each other. The CKM500 is very syrup sounding with muddy bass. The RE-400 has way more clarity and transparency. Also, the RE-400 has a fuller more 3-D like sound. The CKM500, however, will beat the RE-400 in bass if that's what you in. Simply put, these two IEMs aren't on the same level at all.

It would be nice if someone can compare the clarity of RE-400 and JVC FXT-90 :)

FXT-90 is sibilant and grainy on the lower treble. Some might say RE400 is a bit too smooth if they prefer a brighter sound, but I'll take RE400 over FXT90 any time.

Maybe the FXT-90 sibilance and graininess is code named The Waterboard in contrast with the Waterline.

Have some RE-400 on the way! Can't wait to try my first non-Shure IEM! After listening to a good headphone amp and a pair of AKG K702 65th Anniv I put my SE310 in running off my iPod and it sounds soooo dull.  Looking for some more bass and some excitement! Maybe just a little?

With over 100 hours on the RE-400, this tune is blowing my mind. The RE-400 loves acoustic and electric guitars. Take a listen.

Great tune.

Gotta question.   In your sig, your rate your IEM's.    Where do the RE-400's stand in your ratings?

Okay, you can see where I rank them now. They stand alone and right behind my great AS-2. Beautiful sound for a dynamic!

Is it true that the RE-400 now come with a case? I read in the massive IEM review page that they have as of some time in June. Anyone have the case? If so can you post a pic in this thread?

I rate the RE-400's very high too. I have to thank you ericp10, you were the one that got me really interested in these phones. Very satisfied with my purchase of these gems.
