Review: Fischer Audio's DBA-02

in those russian threads they do not mention what source they are using. With a cheap source it can sound sibilant, but it's not the DBA, it's because of source they are using, or probably low bitrage mp3s imho.

How much longer till the inevitable Audio-Technica ATH CK10 vs Fischer Audio DBA-02 thread? I'm waiting with bated breath.

I tried both with a fellow headfi'er who came over to try the dba02.

CK10 is very clean cut, it is as it is.
Clarity is top notch but lacked the fun factor of the dba02.

DBA was fun, engaging and immediately lovable.
Bass extension was not as good but very close to a ck10.

Overall a very close match and depending on what you're looking for..but I haven't burned in the pair yet.
Still have some veil from the wires which needs to be run in - i do alot of custom cables, so i know how new wires sound like.

We A/B'ed on a Sony X series -> LOD + Silver/Copper hybrid Neotech OCC interconnect -> CmoyBB (OScon input caps + OPA2107)

Dependant on your pairing too.

I'd recommend tweaking it with either full copper IC to a neutral amp to tame the highs or full silver IC to a warm amp to rev up the details and remove the boom.
Source itself won't do much damage for sibilance

If source meaning the DAC..

I guess I have to add, again, that with the OEM tips, mediums, the DBAs were hissing like a snake, and I was concerned. Switching to a deep insertion tip, in this case the Ety tri-flange (and the Shures work just as well), I never, ever hear a harsh sssss sound in any tracks, even the ones that are 192 rips/downloads, higher volumnes, or on my weakest source (which is the Clip, in my view). Anyone who is having sibilance problems just need to at least try this workaround. And the way the DBAs insert, they are very comfy even with the tri-flanges, which is not the case with all IEMs.

weibby, so the dba 02 is pretty much very close to the CK10 but with more bass impact/quantity?

@ Ethan961, perhaps you can give us a review or some sort of comparison between DBA-02 and the IEMs you have after you get your Monster Copper?

I think Ethan has the Coppers already :p Also I think the closest you have to an analytical is probably the W2 although I haven't heard them so don't really know. I guess I have no choice but to wait until they actually come.

Yes wait for them and compare them to your CK10. Would like to see more comparsion between DBA and CK10. And I hope you say something like CK10 has more bass and less bright compared to DBA
