Ohh. I live in Southern Indiana, so shipping from KY would be nice. Been itching to try these. I've been using beyers dt770 and love them. But I want something a tad punchier, slightly less bassy with an emphasis on mids. These sound like these may do that.

If only I could find a way to get wood cups for them as well I would so be all over these.

I currently have the HM5 here. It's not particulary punchy and it has less bass as the DT770. It's also doesn't have an emphasized treble and one might think that this leaves a focus on the mids, but somehow it doesn't do that either. The mids aren't very good. The K550 has better bass and mids, the HP100 trumps the DT770, K550 and HM5 but also doesn't have a mid emphasis. The HP100 the emphasises upper mids but for me that's only 1/3 of the mids.

Closed headphones and mids are a tough topic. From all headphones i have owned I would say ESW10jpn, W3000ANV, L3000, Signature Pro (but the mids actually sound very boring compared to the ATs).

So who has spent plenty of time with HD380, HD280 and HM5?
Isolation versus HD25/280/380 or DT1350/T50p?

Is there any difference in comfort between the Brainwavz version and the NVX Audio version (or at least enough to warrent the difference in price)? Also, can anyone compare the sound of these to the Superlux 662f or the Takstar Pro80?

If anyone is interested, over at MP4 Nation HQ we've made semi-open cups for the HM5 via our 3D printer. The semi open cups give the HM5 a more open sound, vocals sound clearer, separation is better but the bass has reduced. I will post a more detailed review later. More pictures here.

Let me write a few words about these cans.

Pros:
+ natural sound signature
+ sound quality
+ quite wide soundstage considering closed construction
+ a lot of equipment
+ very good sound isolation
+ build quality also inside

Cons:
- the pressure force is insane, it requires careful but firm stretch of the arch
- very poor ventilation, ears get sweaty quite fast
- I don’t like the look
Well, these are quite nice headphones for good price. However I imagine these are not for everyone, rather wouldn’t consider them as the first and only headphones in my collection. The sound is precise and natural, but there is lack of musicality, something which makes the sound fun.
Easy to drive though.

Mostly agree with your opinion although I really love the sound and use them a lot. I would just point out that the clamping force evolves to something reasonable and that while the stock pads are very sweaty you can switch them with velours to get a really comfortable headphone that you can listen for hours none stop.

Where to get the velours fitting to these cans?
