They're calling it the Concero HP so I'm thinking standalone amp. Maybe they're trying to get into the "stack" market.

Also, has there been any news on the Concero DSD?

Isn't this the new concero with DSD and Sabre? Kind of weird if they were working on 2 different versions of the Concero at the same time. Well, not weird, but surprising I guess.

Oooooh!  I'd love for that to be a high quality DAC/amp combo, but we are starting to stretch what can be put into a chassis that small that would be worth the price (can go ahead and assume it will be more than the Concero).

From their twitter account:

The next additions to the Concero family will be the Concero HD and Concero HP. Both support DSD and will have a Sabre32 chip

Concero HP will have an amp integrated but only USB input.  Concero HD will have USB and SPDIF like the Concero

Ooooo that might really shake up the budget amp+DAC community! But most curious about how well the HD scales along the existing (and quite excellent) Concero value curve.

Fun times ahead!

LOL "budget."  I guess you and I exist on different curves, and there isn't anything wrong with that.

Hopefully the HP won't be entirely powered by the USB port and will have at least the option for wallwart or better.  I'd love to use my Note II as a source with something this compact, but if it draws all power from USB, it will force me to use a powered hub, which takes a bit away from the compact nature of the setup.

Please let the HP out be good with the HD800 and possibly LCD-2.  This could be the product I have been waiting a long time for.

Oops... make that "reasonably affordable". I guess the Concero isn't quite a "budget" item per se, but I do think it's worth the extra bucks vs. a Bifrost-level DAC.

No idea what the amp+DAC pricing will be, but if sub-$1000 and performs well things could get verrry interesting around here....
