I understand the motivation for preventing quick posts. Rate limiting is a reasonable thing IMO. There does need to be different rules though. Posting privilege on a thread should reset after a day if no one else has replied. Not being able to follow up on a post 9 days later is a thread killer. There's no telling when someone else might post to the thread. If I edit my last post I don't think anyone will be notified that new info has been posted. Please give us some hope! Also, is there a better place to post this feedback? It's hard to believe I'm the only one facing frustration around this.

A quick update and reminder for everyone, we are still reviewing feedback and considering our current stance regarding Head-Fi's long-standing post requirements, which have been in place since before I registered my profile more than 13 years ago. While we continue our review, please remember that our guidelines still remain in place and posting simply to allow another post may be seen as spam and going against Head-Fi's Posting Guidelines.

And I've been on here under various profiles (I've come and gone over the years) since around 2008 and yet I, like everyone else here, had no issue with these policies until a few weeks ago.

Thanks, I think we understand that anti-double posting rules were active long before. What we're complaining about is the way it's being handled right now.

@AxelCloris Yup. Suddenly it's causing unnecessary friction and aggravation. The policy may have been there in writing, but it sure as heck was not applied as the blunt instrument that it has been as of January.

It may have been written as a policy but it has never been enforced. A huge community has grown up around the way the forum has been working up until the last several weeks. The new enforcement mechanism is threatening to, if not break up at least radically alter that community. If the mods could be a little more transparent about why this heavy handed enforcement is suddenly active it would go a long ways toward people understanding.

And it's quite insulting to just point at the policy and try to dismiss our concerns/issues with the fallacious reasoning that "it's always been this way! what's the problem?!".

(And has it really? Who is keeping track of these things? Is there some documentation of the policy, with each change, over the years somewhere?)

You guys don't get it. He's not even talking about the "double posting" thing (which is in fact consecutive posting, and they can't even claim ESL). No, that's done and not open for discussion - it has been decreed (although I am convinced they made 5% of the mental effort required to understand why what they implemented a few weeks ago is irking the community).

No, that's done and over. Not open for discussion. He is now speaking of penalties for trying to keep threads going by "spamming" just so the main content provider can keep providing in those special threads.

In other words, let's stop digging. :)

yep that is the exact problem ...... if there is not alot of back and forth going on like for example on the aliexpress thread, threads will die out because of your exact stated reason

you can even see some new question threads with no replys going under.... there is no way for the OP to push the thread, even after a month, so thats basicly a "fck you" to him and he can look elsewhere for an answer, im pretty sure that cant be intentional

At the end of the day, we cannot post back-to-back no matter how we try to do it or justify it. Kind of sucks for a site like this, but here we are now :(

Hope this gets changed back, but not holding my breath.

Funny how the more popular the forums become the more rules apply.
If everyone moved on the rules would change.
But then no one would care because they would be somewhere else.

Speaking for myself, I understand that rate limiting may be needed to deal with bandwidth, spammers, or something else but the way it is being done now is frustrating people. The fact that this rule was suddenly enforced globally with an automatic action makes me think that something has changed. Or to put it another way, I hope something has changed to warrant this draconian rule. If we knew why the sudden enforcement started maybe we could all figure out a way for the mods’ goals to be accomplished with less frustration.
