I added threads that were mentioned in this thread. Sorry if I missed any!

PoSR77,
What you're describing is posting back-to-back, where one of your posts follows another of your posts in the thread. This is something Head-Fi does not allow under our Posting Guidelines.
From the message you received: "Double posting replies goes against the posting guidelines." A double post is two or more in a row. From our Posting Guidelines:
You will need to use the site's multi-quote function if you'd like to reply to multiple people. Based on what you've stated about posting what you're listening to, you'll need to edit the previous post whenever you'd like to make a new post in a thread when you are the most recent poster. This is working as designed.
Edit: For an example, posting back-to-back (double posting) like this is not allowed under our Guidelines. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/todays-ecm-playlist.971461/page-15#post-18537509
No, it hasn't been answered. We are all still in the dark on that one.Haven't read all posts so it's probably been answered, but what is the thinking here? What is there that much more gained by a limit compared to how it was?
The powers that be want you to edit your last post...Gee my dx3 antipodes thread wouldn’t exist now a days. Someone post something on what movie you watched lately, I have a review I can’t post till somebody posts something
if that is the case, then trigger the "notification" feature when a post in a followed thread has been updated. Otherwise, one could miss fresh content. The powers that be want you to edit your last post...![]()

I can’t post after myself, even if edited
I noticed that also (as did castleofargh). I have found that using the "+ Quote" button and inserting the quotation works instead, just a couple of clicks extra work compared to hitting the "Reply" button. But yes, it would be good if they could fix that.
Ok, but I only clicked Reply on someone's post so I can take that message (via toggle BB code) and include it in my edited last reply.
I would expect this message to show up if I was actually gonna hit "Post reply".
One great thing (if you really want to go the technical route with preventing double-posting but also helping us with the transition) would be that if I have the Edit mode open on a last reply, whenever I hit Reply on someone's comment, then that person's comment should go into the currently-being-edited comment input box.
I hope this makes sense.

Or, hear me out, turn off this poorly-implemented and unneeded "feature".
“+ Quote” only works if you haven’t already replied, making you the last post on the thread.I noticed that also (as did castleofargh). Well, automated features to help/prevent moderation can be nice.
One good implementation of something like this that I saw was the forum automatically taking your second reply and adding it to your last post (by editing it) under the original post's content.
This would be way better!
