Nankai, have you formally announced the 802 yet?  Regardless, yes or no, do you have any plans to announce the spec to the 802?  This is just my personal opinion, but if you could announce the spec, even if it is only partially and leak some new spec info every week leading up the product release, plus let one or two trusted headfiers to review a pre production sample, you could potentially whip this thread up into a 100 page+ frenzy in a few weeks like the DX100 thread.  Even better, if you would show your openness by letting the users help you decide in selecting certain features, you will make us feel obligated in supporting you etc.  For instance, SD vs micro sd as SD is up to 128g capacity already.  Or input/output etc. Hat off to you for keep pushing the DAP frontline.

Yeah, and if the announcement is that it runs an ES9018, USB DAC, and a full size SD, all for under $700 I will come give you a hug.

Just give me a HM802, it will last longer   Even if he want to stay with the PCM 1704, may be he can use two 1704 or better yet 4 1704 for a complete discrete balance set up.

Thanks for your correction, well, the "Tai-Ji" was coming from the Google Translation.

By the way, some guys of China thought the reason why the 801 no longer available might because of the DAC chip, the PCM1704 which was inside HM801.According to the CEO of HiFiMAN,whom had said that there were just 5,000 chips in stock. And now the 801's Serial No. has came to No.1,500,it mean that they have consumed at least 3,000 chips. So it's just an unavoidable destiny of HM801.Well,it might also be a pity that just only 1,500 801s had sold out in these 3 years. The HM802 may have a new DAC chip inside, but this can't be confirmed

Let's wait and see if there will have something new in the future.

That's good actually. Since they have 802 coming. 801 is in a very strange position. so stop making them will make them sell more 802 and at the same time keep 801 users feeling great

I just got myself an HM-801. I almost hope that it gets discontinued, but that the HM-802 doesn't sound quite as good. Perhaps someday the people will speak of the HM-801 like of the Sony R10 or the Qualia...

Haha, it's a collector's item now, seriously. If there were only 1,500 sold. Price might end up going north on those guys.

Haha!

Has it crossed anyone's mind yet that the '802' might just be a hoax in order to generate a rush of sales for the 'classic-status' 801, since the DX100 has been getting all the limelight (and sales) lately? :D

The problem to that theory is that HM801's sale has been stopped a few days ago (HM801 has been pulled from Head-Direct's webstore), before the news leak of HM802. How do you 'generate a rush of sales' when you are no selling it at all?

I would be impressed if the 802 used a flagship dac chip - pref 9018 or 1794 and maybe, just maybe it will be fully balanced, dac & amp.
Just bought a DX100 which I think would be hard to beat, but can't wait to see.
