<Renewed at 2012/03/12>The new HiFiMAN 802 & New UI named "Tai-Chi"

If that's the price, then I am out.

Unless the price includes the docking station (which would explain the price), it is simply overpricing HiFiMan out of business.
Even if the price includes the docking station, I wouldn't buy it because of the entry price.

At around $1000 I would still have been interested, but at $1500 it simply is too expensive - no matter how good it is.
At that price level - then I am heading for the DX100 - even though I have 160GB of SD cards. (Those will sell nicely when selling the HM-801.)
That is actually the reason for me to not go for the DX100 in the first place, but $1500 can get me both the DX100 and a huge amount of GB in MicroSD cards.

The early price has been confirmed in multiple occasion as under $1000 by Fang himself, whether it will go up after the first 2~3th batch is yet to know. The $1500 price tag is probably just someone trying to make some quick money by reselling his/her slot for the pre-ordered HM901, since the actual player will only shipped out in January.

I suspect you're probably correct about $1500 just being someone profiteering, but having said that, if you look closely, you will see that they are offering not just one but as many as a customer requires.

Maybe it's someone with illegitimate access to Hi-FiMan's assembly line or warehouse? (I'm not saying that actually is the case, just wondering if it possibly might be). It is not at all uncommon for such activities to occur 'under the radar' in China.

Everyone be careful of using aliexpress or alibaba. I've used it twice in the past and one time it was a scam. Consider yourself warned.

Yep I can't stand them. I cancelled my order well in advance and they rejected it saying it was too late that they shipped it out which is a crock of horse shi%! Buyers beware they are not honest retailers.

I used Aliexpress a few times, and they all went well. Aliexpress (or Alibaba) is just like eBay, there are good seller and there are bad seller. Just beware when the price is either too high or too low.

OK, if this thing is actually being sold now, how soon before an actual Head-Fier with actual ears can get his hands on a sample?

I'm not sure if this has been posted, but here's a review I found compared to the HM-801.

I'll take June 16, 2013.  What's the price for a bet?  $1.00?  Who's holding the money?
