REECHO Insects Awaken
4 Balanced Armature In-ear Earphone IEMs

Spring series

In order to balance high-quality audio performance, restore the original of the sound as much as possible, and adapt to more different types of music, Insects Awaken applies Reecho's first-generation intelligent AI passive acoustic algorithm technology.

Intelligent AI passive acoustic algorithm
Reecho’s self-built unit database clearly and scientifically records the acoustic characteristics of each speaker unit, and has developed a matching software system. We only need to input the unit configuration plan into the system, cooperate with the high-precision 3D printer to print out the matching acoustic filter, and design the matching equalization circuit according to the system parameters.

Two-channel acoustic filter
Insects Awaken consists of a four-unit full-balanced armature configuration composed of one Knowles 30017 and two Knowles 32873. Two of the 32873 components are manufactured by a high-precision 3D printer imported from Germany to realize a dual-acoustic ultra-low frequency acoustic filter. The inner minimum diameter is only 0.35 mm, and there is a micron-level acoustic structure in the channel according to the equalization algorithm.

High precision RLC frequency, equalization circuit
With the acoustic filter, the frequency response characteristics of the 5-50Hz frequency band and the 50-500Hz frequency band can be controlled separately, which can greatly improve the bass elasticity and diving problems of the balanced armature unit. The bass achieves the effect close to the dynamic. And at the same time, it does not It will cause the connection problem of the full sticker earphones.

Rich and full color

One painting at a time, feels the real brushwork full of color, rich levels, a hand-painted painting, to create an artistic atmosphere.
Reecho once again breakthrough cavity painting technology, carefully selected “diamond gold powder” painting in the Insects Awaken’s cavity, the perception of further sublimation, the breath of art blow on the face.

Skin-friendly texture experience
The special UV resin imported from Germany for 3D printing has better gloss texture and transparency than domestic materials, and the appearance will last longer.

Ergonomic wear design
According to the big data, the newly designed cavity for opening mold is skin-friendly and comfortable, which is more suitable for long-term wear and use.

Cable
The standard 2pin 0.78mm 8-strand silver-plated upgrade cable allows you to experience a balanced, long-lasting listening experience with rich and detailed analysis in place.

A variety of standard earplugs, bringing more playability
There are come with two different eartips, namely balance and low frequency eartips, which bring precise and subtle sound experience. The more textured leather portable storage bag can bring all-round good protection.

(I've posted this on another thread before, posting it here again to keep things in one place)

Reecho Insect Awaken: First Impressions

Reecho definitely wins the award for the "most weird IEM name of 2020" award. That being said, the name alone is not the most interesting thing about the Insects Awaken.

Driver setup: The Reecho Insects Awaken ($300-320) is a four-driver, all-BA setup. Two Knowles RAF-32873 takes care of the bass and lower-mids whereas a Knowles dual-BA 30017 takes care of the upper-mids to the treble region. There is a dual physical-crossover (3D printed).

Unboxing: The box itself is very large and substantial but doesn't have a lot of accessories to speak of. The tips are nice but there is no conventional carrying pouch per se. The box that the IEMs come in can also function as a case but it's too large and heavy to carry along. Something that's more easier to pocket would be very nice. Another issue of mine is the cable: it was out-of-phase on my unit. I do know of at least two other people who have the same IEM and didn't have any phase issues with the wire, and the seller would usually send you a replacement cable in such a case, but just something to be aware of.

Build: The Resin shells are 3D printed and the colors are apparently hand-poured. It's a rather striking design and definitely passes off as fashion item. It's also rather lightweight and comfortable. I didn't like the flush 2-pin connectors though, wish they were recessed.

Sound: Now, the sound. Do note that these are early impressions as I've only received them for about a day.

These are a moderately V-shaped IEM with some sub-bass focus. The sub-bass isn't overwhelming but it does make its presence known, rather surprisingly for an all-BA IEM. The sub-bass impact and rumble is rather satisfying indeed. It won't beat the true bass monsters out there, but it's very unlikely that you'll miss a single bass note. Fast flowing bass sections are handled really well. Han Zimmer's Why So Serious (3:25 - 3:55 seconds, for example) has a deep sub-bass line which many IEMs fail to properly convey. The mid-bass is a bit lean though vs the sub-bass so the bass section might feel slightly detached at times. On most tracks though this was great.

The midrange is laid back, esp lower mids. It can be a bit too laid back on some tracks and lose a bit of "engagement factor" but on the up-side there's not a hint of shout in the midrange. String instruments sound good. Vocals are also well articulated, just that they're behind in the mix. The treble, meanwhile, is handled rather well. No sibilance or harsh peaks. It does roll off around 9KHz and lacks a bit of air. For the price though - I'm not expecting a lot of air in the treble anyway. Soundstage is wider than average with excellent depth. Imaging is another strong suite of these IEMs along with great instrument separation.

Overall, I like them so far, apart from the recessed lower-mids. I do think they are competitively priced and offer a really nice bass for an all-BA IEM in the given price bracket. I will share more in the full review.

Hope as you said. But in fact, it's not.
I see that, and find it very surprising. Regardless, I’m glad to read how good it is.

Doubt I qualify but I'd love to review. I have the HiFiMan Sundara, Philips Fidelio x2hr, Audiotechnica ath-ad700x, Moondrop Blessing 2, JDS Labs Atom amp, Schiit Fulla 3 dac/amp, with the Penon Fan, Kinera bd005 pro and Paiaudio dr2 on the way. I'd love to give my opinion if asked.
