Watched Buried 10/10. Can´t be more hardcore then this. 95 minutes in a coffin.

Hated that movie myself, 6/10.  One of those movies where you can only play along if you disregard the stupidity of the character.  Very poorly executed, drawn out and tons of holes.  I think I nodded off once and it only got worse once I hopped into 'Lebanon'.  Bad movie day.

Grown Ups - 2.1/10 Spiritually enlightening in the sense that I now know how God felt before he flooded the Earth. Gains points for the phrase "I want to get chocolate wasted." but otherwise, horrible.

There's a few. During one sex scene you see Jim Carrey without a shirt and all sweaty and I was thinking he was with a woman, but then they pan down and he's with a man. I won't repeat the dialogue and it doesn't show any nudity though. I was surprised because he was actually married to a woman earlier in the movie. There's a lot of funny, if a bit sick dialogue.

Oh and there's several scenes of Jim and Ewan making out in prison. Not my favorite thing to watch, but I still love the movie. I actually haven't seen "Brokeback Mountain" but I keep hearing it's one of the best movies ever made. I think it's safe to say I'm glad I didn't see this movie with my mother! Watching "Shawshank Redemption" with her was bad enough. She got offended and actually got mad at ME!! What the heck?! I think it was the dialogue.

I read on wiki they originally were originally had some of the scenes in Phillip Morris more graphic, but they had to cut them out. The studio almost didn't even release this movie.

I definitely suggest checking the movie out. One of Jim Carry's best roles. I think one reason I like the movie is because of his acting.

I was reading about the man Jim played in the movie and most of what is in the movie actually happened!

I was worried about that.  So there are some Brokeback moments then?

2.5/10? I take it you found none of the humor even remotely funny? I thought I'd hate it, but I loved every minute of it and laughed a LOT! I don't think it's worthy of a second viewing, but I enjoyed it at least.

Speaking of unfunny movies.. the most unfunny movie I've ever seen in my life is "National Lampoons European Vacation". I think I laughed twice in the entire movie. Or there is 'Wedding Crashers". Nearly everyone in the world loves that, but I found nothing in it to be funny.

My favorite comedies I think are "Being There" and "Planes, Trains and Automobiles". I also love "Harry and Tonto".

Not even Houdini would have escaped that death trap.  Didn´t find any holes or anything stupid wonder what are you referring to here?

Very nice man, to write down the end of a movie
mad.gif

There are people reading this topic who maybe are going to see it yet, and your little sentence here could ruin that for them.

Bah. If you watched any of the trailers or remember any news (I did) you would've known the whole plot of this movie beforehand.

Seven: 9/10

I watched it recently once before, but it still blew me away. First movie (and probably will be the last) that made me just a touch sick at the end.

All in all, a finely crafted movie.

Well the snake had no problem getting in and out.  Instead of figuring out where it was coming from he was screaming like a little girl.  He never even bothered doing an inventory of the items on his person.  Wasted every possible life saving resource he had in the dumbest ways possible and kept freaking out rather than cooperating with the people trying to save him.  Every chance he had to help improve his situation he intentionally squandered it to drag out the two hours of 'hard-core' tension.  It was like watching any typical low brow horror flick where the protagonist tosses the gun or knife for no good reason even though their life is in danger.  The movie is a great concept poorly executed by creating false, protracted and unbelievable circumstances throughout.  He deserved to die in the end because he pretty much killed himself.  That was the most pathetic 'struggle' I could ever imagine anyone making for their own life.  I was relieved to see him go.  Darwinism at its finest.  Apart from the beginning and the end, everything in between was utter BS.  YMMV.

If Houdini believed as you do he surely wouldn't have been Houdini.

Investigating the case was the first thing he did when he was awake. Also checked what he had on hand which wasn´t anything that could possible save his life except for possibly the cell phone. If you manage to break the case which he foolishly did. But who wouldn´t waking up under such circumstances it´s only human, you are getting drowned by dirt so it´s a last measure anyway before you run out of air. Which I suppose is way earlier IRL but it´s a movie afterall :D.
I wouldn´t expect a snake coming in from any small hole myself so I would make the same misstake not covering that up myself. Though covering it up is perhaps not the brightest idea if it acts like a ventilation shaft to give you air if you are so happy to get a snake making such for you. Though I didn´t understand how it got into his pants but that is due to dramatic effect I suppose lol. I think he handled the snake really well by scaring it off with alcohol and fire? Not much more you can do unless you try the stay still method. Wonder how many would be totally cool with a potentionally poisonous snake in a casket like that. I do enjoy he is actually human and not an immortal super mutant makes it more real and believable.
Houdini was a fraud so shouldn´t compare his staged breakout attempts. He would have died in this coffin as well I am absolutely sure. .

Forrest Gump - 9/10

My friends and I started talking about how Tom Hanks tends to appear in war movies, and how Forrest Gump technically counts because he goes to Vietnam for a small part. Now that I actually understand the historical references (first time I watched this movie was as a kid), I enjoyed the show quite a lot, the ending made me sadface a bit though :(

Well, lets agree to disagree.  There's a difference from being human to being a stupid human.  He didn't check what he had on hand for at least 20 minutes into the movie.  He burned through his cell battery like it was solar powered while having ridiculous and unproductive conversations and rantings.  Handle the snake well?  There's about 10 different ways you can kill a snake not involving setting yourself on fire.  When is lighting a fire inside a coffin you happen to be trapped in a good idea?  Never.  He had tools, an airshaft (rather shallow it seems even), cellphone and squandered it all.  He had the means to have his position tiangulated, tools to break through the coffin and an air supply.  He didn't try very hard to live.  It seems your point is that most humans will just freak out and die due to stress and stupidity.  Maybe, though I think we would all be in zoo cages w/ Apes standing on the outside if that were true.  The character handled nothing the way I would have.  Not one thing.  Sorry if I couldn't relate to that at all.  Nothing superhuman about it.  Contrived film drama all the way.  If he had died making good choices and actually tried I would have liked it.  He did neither and earned his fate and wasted my 2 hours.

If he were trapped in a freezing shed w/ a cellphone and a kerosene lamp he would have called a sex hotline and set the shed on fire to stay warm.

Btw, what does Houdini have to do w/ anything.  Aren't all magicians, excuse me, 'illusionists' frauds?  What real magicians do you know?

Watched this the other day as i was bored at the hotel...
Interesting story - better yet that it seemed pretty accurate. I agree 100% with tdock at first its a bit What but it gets better I was impressed at how industrious he was at the end.

Some of the scenes were a bit uncomfortable to watch though, Doggy style with a butch dude, full on man on man making out.

I love you Phillip Morris 9/10

I've got to admit that a few of it's scenes made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Sorry, but it's true. I hated the movie at first and then it kept getting better and better until I think I loved the movie. It's one of my favorite Jim Carrey roles. It's not strictly a comedy, but maybe a bit of two genres. I do think there was a few totally unnecessary scenes, but that's OK. I think this one would even get better on multiple viewings. I can definitely see how some people could hate this. I wonder if really any of the events in the movie are true. I'll have to look that up.

Arthur - 6.5/10

Worth a rental, maybe seeing at the theater if you're desperate for a comedy. I liked it. The first half wasn't that good, but it got better halfway through.
I don't know how it compares to the original since I saw that such a long time ago.

Don't ask me why, but some parts reminded me of "Elf", which is one of my favorite movies. Yes, really!
