Agreed. Many here just aren't realizing the difference between a stated opinion and stating a fact that is actually just their opinion..

You don't like rap is the opinion, the rap I've heard sucks tells us what it is based on, because all opinions need to be based on something. If it isn't, then your opinion is pretty meaningless.

This is your opinion. However, the way it is stated implies that it is a fact, a truth, that rap sucks. But it is not a truth, it is your opinion.

Am I telling everyone they need to submit their basis for their opinion for suspection? No. As Williamgoody said, this could've been long avoided had MetalHead666 had simply not phrased it the way he did. Had he stated his opinion instead of asserting it as a fact, I wouldn't be here and you'd all be happier for it

Well, most popular music in all genres is overwhelmingly crap. Rap is probably nearer 99.9999% crap, whereas thrash/metal is 99.9% and power pop reaches 99%, and dance about 98%.

Mike, In my experiencing reading your posts, this is the BEST point you've made. I totally agree.

Whenever you target "as many people as possible" as an audience, the music has the potential to be so bland and uninviting as possible. This could be said for all the mainstream music out there, no matter the genre.

Sorry wahoox2 Im an ass for not reading your earlier statements on rap, before I ripped you. I understand what soured you on it, but why give up on the good stuff that you used to listen to? I used to listen to heavy metal; Guns and Roses, Motley Crue, Helmet, until they all started to sound the same. I dont listen to all the crap that gets put out now, but it doesnt mean Ive forsaken all the good stuff I used to listen to. What's up?

again, a little late on my part. First off let me say that most people here are elitest snobs (when it comes to music). Please dont put up denfenses of you personally not being a snob, I just said most, not all. Also I will say though that many commercial rap artists suck...alot. Its almost all the same thing over and over. To paraphrase The Roots "Nine out of ten times its the same song, only the beats change."
