I have read many good things about Kinki Studio and their EX-M1 and thought it may be a good inexpensive alternative to consider for the RAAL-Requisite SR1A. It supposed to have a bit of Swiss: Goldmund and Nagra flavour .

I have ordered the Kinki Studio EX-M1 today with the preamp out. It will take two weeks before I get it and then like 300 of burn in. After that I will be equipped for the RAAL-Requisite SR1A, I hope .

SLT in Indonesia is a dealer. As I understand new batches are coming early next week so maybe 2 weeks to final delivery in Asia?

Just a quick impression on the SR1a after running them in for 50 hours.

There is no need for super high end electronics in front of the SR1a to sound good. Also, I did not find the SR1a overly bright by any means but instead completely neutral.

I used an old MacBook Pro -> Schiit Yggy -> Oulaw Audio RR2150 (~$600 stereo receiver) to burn them in and I was completely blown away by what I heard.

If you're worried about having to spend big money on an amp / preamplifier / integrated amp to get these cans to sound their best, don't worry about it. Just upgrade as time and money permit and don't worry about it.

The SR1a are good enough that you most likely won't worry about upgrading until you've gone through your entire music library and get bored. For me, that will take a while.

Once burn-in, headphone cable selection has been completed, and I move them into my big-rig, I will post more impressions.

This will take about a month.

At this point, these SR1a are keepers and are extremely impressive for the price of admission.

I may have missed it on the website, but can someone supply the cabinet dimensions of the interface device?

I’m a huge fit and finish type of guy. I love well made product where the tiniest details are not overlooked. How is the fit and finish of the SR1a and its accompanying interface device?

The Interface box sizes are: body- 124mm wide, 170mm long, 40mm tall and the face plate is 134mm wide, 50mm tall and 10mm thick.

With carbon shells/cages, fit is superb, as that part is all about exact dimensions and holding the innards firmly and precisely.
Finish...the best we could muster out from Carbon Fiber board with exposed edges and pouring the epoxy resin that holds it together. The dosage of epoxy turned out to be a non-trivial matter, so not as good looking as we wished for, but it is not a crime for a ruggedized product that is all about pro-gear toughness.

The Interface box is a regular electronics box with a good fit and a fair finish, but nothing fancy. It does the job and it looks appropriate for the context in which it is in (pro gear).

All in all, SR1a are not the prettiest thing you'll see but it doesn't aspire to be. There's a stripped down, bare bones tech, vibe to them. Visual design for the sake of beauty is almost non-existent in them...all that is there, serves a purpose.

Anyhow, they are very impressive in their own right. A young couple at Denver Canjam joked that they are the Darth Vader's evil brother's headphones

Our next model(s) will be a circumaural pads, open and closed backs which will look much neater. It is much easier to make them such, as like with other headphones, they will have bezel rings that cover grille edges and the structure will be hidden. But, I give no promises! Maybe they will also be anti-fashion statements, as well!
