What frequency is your sub crossed at ?

I played around with it and for me and my room 140hz works best. But, I have it EQ'd such that it's a gradual rolloff as it approaches 140hz.
You subwoofer people are killing me. I've been desperately trying to avoid this route, as I need to then get a speaker amp and a sub, which I do not have, but it sounds like it would be an amazing combination...

@Shahrose - How are you connecting the sub directly to your DAC? If I could somehow do this experiment without having to buy a speaker amp and use my JotR, that would make it more palatable.
I use the XLR output of the DAC to feed the preamp and the SE out of the DAC for the sub. You may ask why I didn't connect the sub to the preamp. My reasoning was the sub being a little further and slower than the RAAL should have a shorter signal path. It may be I'm just reaching, but as it stands, the attack of the sub coincides perfectly with the SR1a. It's seamless.
Gonna try a KEF Kube 12b on Sunday, finally, hopefully.

I have considered subs as you know but this post made me to persuade my dealer to arrange a home demo.

:beerchug: It's worth it. I do find some of the magic comes from the built in digital EQ of the SVS that I can control with my phone.

Do you know the typical audio delay of an analog preamp:
1 us, this is 1/1.000.000 s, or in audiosignal air travel distance: 1/3 of a mm.

So connecting the sub to the preamp would make the handling (common volume setting etc.) much more convenient.
Give it a try!

You're right, my decision was more for its psychological effect than to produce a measurable advantage in timing. My volume control works out well because everything is digitally controlled in my setup, but for others, connecting to the pre is simpler. I may switch to that route later if it becomes tedious.

I am using benchmark hpa4 as preamp to drive my DIY speaker amp & sub(AudioengineS8)/isoacoustics 200sub. I've connected the balanced mono sum out from hpa4 to my sub's LFE via supra female XLR to RCA (LFE) cable. Adding a sub gives more fuller & bigger sound. Btw, setting up a sub in small-medium room is a pita. A good sub will definitely improve the sound & integrate better.

I realized that I can run the preamp out on the Jot-R simultaneously with the headphone out, so I got myself a KEF KC62 mini sub to plug into that. It should arrive next week, and I'll report back!

Sorry if this has been asked before, but when would someone change the ribbons on these headphones?

when there is a problem with one of the ribbons just as there would be a problem with a driver etc

After a period of use, the ribbons need to be replaced. Every ribbon will eventually stop working. It’s a function of their design. If I remember correctly, it takes several years for this to happen
