Thanks for doing this.  I hope to be able to compare my KGSSHV to the BHSE soon as well.

Hey no worries. I've always wanted to hear both and now I'm lucky enough to have both in house. Didn't really get to hear much tonight as my daughter's soccer game ran long. More to come this weekend.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the BHSE and KGSSHV. Never heard the BHSE yet, but the KGSSHV is one killer Stax amp!

CDWMcINSPOTS-Dont take the way she smiles as normal. As they say in Scotland  she would "sour" the milk in a dairy " if she walked into it. She gave prince Charles no love at all didnt hold hug him made him feel loved as every child should be. And thats Charles s words not mine. Charles might be laughed at and put down in England for his views  on architecture and organic food . But if we were forced to have a king in Scotland I would pick him. Rainy day in Glasgow -my wife crossing the street as Charles came back from a civil function in Glasgow city chambers he saw my wife and waved to her= That makes him human in my book. Never happen with his mother.

Wife met him in the early 60s at a party in Glasgow said he had eye makeup  on and had powder on his face. Asked my wife if she wanted his autograph she said no . He was a bit put out and said he would sing no was the reply.Said she could tell even then. Your right he is staying with a "man of the cloth"Got a photo of him in 1958 surrounded by girls outside a theatre he looks Scared!  Little Richards went religious in the 60s .was booed on stage in the 70s for his flamboyant   clothes  and his "manner" on stage.

So after about 3 days of A-Bing and B-Aing, then A-Bing again, I gotta say I'm really thinking that the KGSSHV is going to be my long term SR-009 amp. I've tried to really like the LL and if I still had my SRM-727II I would be very happy (especially at the used price I paid for it). But next to the KGSSHV I'm finding that the LL is really lagging behind.

The bass on the KGSSHV hits harder and tighter. Typically with amps you get one or the other and very rarely does one get both. But like the GS-X MKII, the KGSSHV behaves in a very similar fashion. The improvement in clarity over all of my previous Stax amps with the KGSSHV is truly something special.

More to come...

has anybody compared KGSSHV againts Stax-717? As far as I remember, I read that they were very similar...is it true?

I think you're referring to the KGSS. I would say the differences between the KGSS and the KGSSHV are in line with the GS-1 and the GS-X MKII. Sorry, and I would definitely take the KGSS over the SRM717.

Just sold my KGSS to a long time member who upgraded from the 717.

Yes, maybe what I read it was about KGSS....anyway, has anyboyd listen to both amps and comment the differences between them?

I believe the SRM-717 is based on the KGSS design with inferior parts & PSU.  The output stage produces warmer sound compared to the KGSS according to several Stax Guru.  I personally owned the SRM-717 in the past and still think very highly of it.  It mates well with both the SR-007 MKI and SR-009.  I sold the 717 right after my BHSE has landed.

I guess it was a big improvement the BHSE compared with the SRM-717....at least it should be!

There is similar DNA as the 717 is indeed a KGSS built under a license.  They did change the output stage quite a bit so its far from being as linear as the KGSS.  There is also the PSU (well lack there of really) to consider.

KGSS to KGSSHV was just futher refinement of the design, better circuit board layout and most importantly, a very, very good PSU.
