Qobuz Lossless Streaming Service Thread

No, I'm saying the Quad DAC you have in your phone is top-tier, and UAPP ensures you get the most out of it. With most Android phones, you'd need an external DAC to get similar performance, but again you'd need UAPP to get the most out of that too. (I did not use the word "relevant", and what I was trying to clarify is that what I'm discussing here is only this: resampling by the operating system, which is bypassed by UAPP to ensure the DAC receives the best signal.)
Got it. I don't fully follow the resampling issue but this makes sense. Appreciate the information and insight.

Did a sound comparison on several sets of IEMs and headphones. Didn't run through my desktop, just through LG V30. Only have a Dragonfly Black for a DAC on the Windows system. Sounds are comparable between Masters and HiRes. CD quality compared to Hifi on Tidal I give the edge to Qobuz. The HiRes and Masters, although close, I would say Tidal is 'warmer' and Qobuz clearer and an itsy bit more detailed. Some Qobuz tracks can come off a bit harsher than Tidal Masters but not often. Qobuz is technically buggy, as it was last year when I used it for a month. A whole bunch of albums would produce static in the right channel while playing the song at double speed. Last night I had given up on Qobuz. This morning I went to see if the same albums had the problem from the night before and they did not. So, I don't know if it was Qobuz or my phone. Never had the problem before with my phone or with Tidal so assumed it was Qobuz. Going to continue with the trial and leaning towards Qobuz. Qobuz fills up my disk space/SD card and Tidal doesn't. Egde to Tidal but I am going to buy larger SD cards soon and I will be just fine.

When I tried Tidal for six months, I thought the MQA files sounded a bit smoother, so I concur with your assessment. I suppose Tidal has the edge when it comes to the highest resolution since MQA goes up to 24/384, but I have no idea if there are any such albums there.

I’m liking my experience with Qobuz so far. I do wish there was an artist directory, but I suppose that might be quite hard to compile.

On MQA files sounding warmer/smoother, I imagine that’s the result of MQA’s pre-ringing removal.

I have not seen anything higher than 192 but that does not prove there aren't higher res albums available.

I like the sound of the MQA albums. I think the compression part of MQA was a waste of time but there does seem to be better music at the end of the long and winding road. On the music services I have subscriptions for I don't see a way to know the catalog number for certain or get the actual liner notes for the specific copy of the album they're hosting. I don't know if the MQA albums I liked are really just better because they're MQA or because the company that did the MQA mastering did a good job remastering.

Qobuz sound more hologaphic, and more details for mid.
Mid imagine is true at center of sphere sound field.
It harsh abit some tracks, maybe record relate.
I feel as Tidal can "denoise" the vocal, less detail but more analog while qobuz sometimes feel digital.

So, I just sub'd to Qobuz. I works fine via my Wdws 10 laptop.
However, I'm trying to stream via my Android phone and I get the message, "It's impossible to play this track. Thank you for trying another playback format or a different track".
I have tried different tracks and even lowered the stream to frickin MPS 320 and it will give me the same message.

Any suggestions? TIA.

Does it work if you download the tracks for offline playback? Is your phone connected to the same Wifi as your laptop or a mobile data connection?

Ok, just my experience here after many hours trying Qobuz. Great sound, difficult and slow interface. Good catalog but not great. Amazon HD has best catalog, Tidal second best, then QB. QB integrates with UAPP well but is slow and buggy. Buffers often and occasionally it will play heavy static and the tune in double speed. Never have that problem with Tidal or Amazon. Anything I download through QB goes my player's memory. And the issue I have the most difficulty overcoming is that I play an album on QB and it just stops. No recommendations, no playlists I have any interest in listening to, and really the discovery aspect with QB is very limiting. Great sound is the only thing going for QB.

I haven't downloaded any songs, I can try it but don't see that as a solution. And yes the wdws 10 laptop and Android phone are on the same Wifi in my home. And my speeds are good with 100mb down and 10 up.

A report of the same problem was posted earlier in this thread. I haven't seen a solution, but it was reported the problem to Qobuz Support, so I'd hope by now they'd be familiar with it and can offer a fix..

After trying Tidal, Qobuz and Amazon Music HD, Qobuz has the best SQ, hands down. But I found Qobuz couldn't care less about Pop, the 'New in Pop' playlist was updated nearly a month ago. The catalogue is fine, just no easy way to quickly find new songs unless you already know what you are looking for...

Thanks. I was looking for CS phone number or email but couldn't find one. I wanted to suggest artists or albums to list. I was frustrated that most of Ronnie Earl's newer albums weren't listed.
