Proud new owner of Audio-Technica ATH-W5000. Yay!!!

I just contacted the seller to inquire about more stock.  He said he had 9 pairs at that price and I was the first to buy.  All were sold within one day.  Sorry guys.  For a refurb, it looks NEW as you can  see in the video.  I'm glad I made the purchase.

I need an amp for it now.  My Musical Fidelity V8 is good, but I suspect these headphones can do more.  Any advice?

HA-5000 or HA-02 for it is simply unmissable. Did you say slow? W5000 being slow is quite impossible with the correct matching. They are one of the fastest dynamic phone in the market. Also, the detail is excellent.

After a few days of burn-in, the vocals on this when paired with my Apogee Duet 2 is pretty amazing.  I still think it's a bit slow, maybe relaxed is a better word.  I am pretty happy with the sound.

It is a very smooth and relaxed phone, the sound can vary quite a bit between amps, so I am not sure if it is really slow or just smooth.

Its too smooth and easy for me, and I am not a fan of the coloured mids on it.

I think what you mean is that for complex passages, the mids can be congested from the resonance of sound from the wooden housing. I find that the wooden housing seem to give a longer lingering of the sound echoes.

I would never call this headphone slow or relaxed. There must be something wrong in your setup

I've used it with my Lehmann Audio Black Cube Linear (a fast neutral amp) and my findings are the same.  I color added a bit of fun for me since I have many neutral cans.
