There are r2r dacs that besides r2r also support dsd
an R2R dac that supports DSD isn't playing DSD natively. It's converting the file to PCM to playback. Your computer/phone can do the same.

I think it is really weird, it seems they skipped the 4.4 balanced, even the ef400 has that? All of the advertisements say there are 4 headphone outputs on the front panel- yet all I can see are a balanced 4-pin XLR, and 6.35mm single ended. What gives?
I have (and love) the EF400- but this higher priced model provide any superior features?
???The 4.4 and 2.5/3.5mm jacks are probably on the bottom, where it makes the most sense for weight distribution during takeoff and landing.
Well that’s a shame isn’t it? At least for the 4.4, even the ef400 has it. I like the 4.4 way more than the xlr bulky plug. The front has only 1/4" and 4-pin XLR. There is a pair of RCA out and a pair of 3-pin balanced out on the back, but those would be for use as a DAC-only, I assume. Then a pair of RCA in and 3-pin in (for use as an amp only). So I would say no 4.4 balanced nor 2.3/3.5.
