As I said previously, I practiced many many sunsets from this park. Here is one of my favorites.
The tripod had to be supported on a slope to get this shot, not mentioning the risk of getting my gear wet from the waves. But it's worth the risk when seeing the results I like.
No, it's one exposure, but it is tone-mapped in the B&W conversion (Silver Efex), which is why the light "halo" around the building is more pronounced that I usually like - but I like the dramatic look here.
All the detail is there in the one exposure. I could get a similar detail more subtly with light masks.
