Very cool. Is autostitch a program or a Photoshop plug-in?

A free application: AutoStitch

It's a "demo" that expires, but they put out a new one periodically, so you just grab the latest when it's time, and it's not restricted in functionality (much).

"Individuals or companies are free to use images that they generate using the demo version of Autostitch without restriction or royalties so long as they acknowledge the use of Autostitch in such works."

Well again since it's related here's my hard near 2 hour work to set this one up:

It was for a Song Title assignment for a photography forum i frequent. Naturally i chose a Joanna Newsom song (after seeing her in London over the weekend).

Joanna Newsom - Only Skin.

"scrape your knee; it is only skin
makes the sound of violins"

I like that Wil, good lighting and conversion to black and white, blue filter a little bit? really brings out the skin detail.

Well i'm going to complete the other four songs in the same style and ratio/size, just to complete the set.

Joanna Newsom - Sawdust & Diamonds.

sawdust-r.jpg

"and the little white dove
made with love, made with love:
made with glue, and a glove, and some pliers"

"then the slow lip of fire moves across the prairie with precision
while, somewhere, with your pliers and glue you make your first incision
and in a moment of almost-unbearable vision
doubled over with the hunger of lions
"hold me close," cooed the dove
who was stuffed now with sawdust and diamonds"

Not so happy with this one as i had to fake the diamonds a little - i did use ice but it was melting so fast i couldn't get too much of a decent reflection off of them.

I'll get the other three songs done eventually

Thanks Kevdo,

I love your set as well. The violin one is amazing. How did you get the lighting? It looks spot on to me. I assume you used a flash? (im a total noob to flash, just got myself a 550ex and i can't even figure out the basic functions. )

I did a slight low density blue filter and this is the result!

cool. I don't know what you use but in PS CS3 the B&W conversion allows you to add filters, works pretty well.

Yeah 2 flashes, SB-600 with a 12" snoot lighting my knee and the bow from behind and my SB-22 with a 6" snoot lighting the violin from top left. Only had 6 square foot to play with so it a nightmare lol.

I just recently joined the Nikon family. I took my shinny new D40 on a business trip to Salzburg, Austria. I am still learning how to use my camera, lens stuff, and camera modes. I used Photoshop to adjust the levels. Let me know if have any comments or have a favorite.

Flashnolan, I like your last picture (landscape)! What a great scene. Best of luck with your new camera. Hope it brings you much enjoyment.

M0T0XGUY, I love the first three pictures! Great color, sharp as a tack, nicely framed, and nice subjects. Very impressive.
