Hi headfier's,
First sorry about my English i'm form Argentina and i love this site.

Second:
I need your opinion about my future rig (keep in mind that here in Argentina the electronics cost two times more than the original USA price and 3.2 pesos ,local money, is equivalent to 1 dolar) ok here is my rig:

E-MU 0404 > through DIY pure silver cable > DIY headphone amplifier with all gold plated jacks (futurely (Fortunately/ in the future?) all the cables are gonna be soldered directly on to the amplifier including the ones from the headphones to reduce distortion and noise ocasioned (Occasionally?) for (from) the jacks) > Sennheiser HD555 (probably modded with diy silver cable)

The total cost of all the rig is U$S400 or $1280(pesos)

Detailed price list:
HD555= U$S160
E-MU 0404= U$S150
DIY amplifier = U$S35
Cables= U$S55

That's all........ for now

PD: If anyone can post a similar list with prices from USA, for reference, i would be grateful.

PPD: Please correct my English i want to learn.

Regards and Good luck

¡¡Keep Listening!!

Checked and corrected!

Sounds good.

To cut cost, buy used, much more for your peso, and almost everyone here is great to deal with and very trustable! Just aks for pics of the item if you want to get an understanding of the condition of the used item.

imanzoni, better use properly shielded studio grade cables (Mogami, Cordial, etc) instead of some weird placebo silver stuff. All cables sound the same (can of worms, I know) - but with non-esoteric ones you're at least safe from interferences (even if they might not look as blingy).

I did an about face on the Grados. Will definitely be keeping them (SR-125, actually)

I thought there was something wrong with the NAD amp after listening for ~half an hour, then I realized the 'mono' button was pushed in!

I don't know. 75$ more on ebay, apparently. Also, this one was kept in immaculate condition by the owner (seriously, the inside is absolutely dust-free -- it looks like it just came from the store). Whereas the 3155 I initially bid on was more beat-up.

The thing is, I'm not sure if I can really tell the difference between the NAD, and just using the Zero. After a few weeks, if I still can't say for sure that the combo is better than just the Zero, I'll definitely dump the NAD back on ebay, because I have no plans to use speakers any time soon.

This is with the 240DFs, DT-770Pros, Grado SR-125s. I *may* (emphasis on the may) be getting either an HD580 or a K340 (or even less likely, both), so that would delay the final decision another couple of weeks, if it happens.
