Just got my Wharfedale's today:

It's a great sounding setup (I'll judge when the speakers are broken in). I'm a freshmen in college, by the way.

ALAC/FLAC -> Foobar2000 -> Fubar II USB DAC -> Onix SP3 MKII Integrated Amp (6L6GC SED + Mullard 12AX7) -> Wharfedale Diamond 9.6

I couldn't have had a setup like that when I was in college. Wouldn't ever have studied.

Trust me, it's hard at times. But it eases the mind at night and prepares me for hours of studying -- so in that sense it's OK

Which simply begs the question, "What do you do for a living?"

Software development for a small firm. I work very, very part time though.

Going thru this thread, I am constantly amazed at the rigs college students own! Man, I still can't afford set-ups like that ... I just end up spending my money on more music.

Duggeh, nice score with the, I think, Revox B77! When are the Quad electrostatics coming?

However desirable, it's not sensible to use 2 by 3 foot electrostatics up against a wall for a desktop setup. The 12Ls are sounding pretty sweet, but I can't move them out without losing my desk, and cant move the desk. Better than the 21L I used to have on the desk.

The Revox is the B77 Mk.2 Vari and has been fun to play with but it really isn't a sensible piece of equipment for me to own. I've also got a dbx II tape noise box and about 15 ten inch reels of tape plus some empty spools.
