So I'm looking for some portable full size headphones. However, all the ones I look at (eg: ATH-M50, SRH750DJ) have a cord that's way too long to wear while walking my dog. Are there any good full size headphones out there with a cord between 1 and 1.5 metres?

take a look at the M50 thread, some people have figured out a technique to actually braid the wire thus making it shorter, theres a few links in there on how to do it - and it looks pretty awesome in their pics too

Check out the Phiaton MS400. Very nice looking headphones and the sound is pretty good too. If you're into a lot of bass go for the MS400s :)

I mostly listen to pop music, so bass isn't a huge priority.

I really, really hate the shiny surface on those. I know I'm not really in a place to be picky, but I don't want to make my headphones stand out anymore than they already will.

They irritate my ears like crazy. I also don't like the awkwardness that ensues when someone talks to me and doesn't realize I can't hear them. At least with full size there's no mistake and they're 100x more comfortable.

I love learning something new. I just did this to my Shure 840. Works like a charm. Thanks!

I'm loving my Sony MDR-Z1000s. It comes with a 1.2m and a 3m cord. You can get them for around $500+. It provides a really snug fit and is built like a tank so definitely a portable option.

There is an m50 that has a coiled cord that I'm pretty sure is short enough to be used portably. Here's an amazon link to one.

You CAN get the coiled version of the M50. I have it myself for on-the-go and it works well. I don't even notice the weight (hell I can just tuck it into my pocket. I'm around 5'8"~5'10" by the way). The coiled version is just called the M50 (M50s = straight cable). Or you can get the M50 and braid of course, but the coiled is less of a hassle if you're always going to be near your source :).
