100 - 500 albums. Apparently the 1000 - 2000 was a mistake. 
 
 The DAC chip used is the ESS ES9018

Interestingly the press release on Computeraudiophile quotes 100-500 hi res albums depending on resolution and length of recording. This seems on a par with other systems. The 1000+ albums quoted earlier would seem to be an error...

Setting aside the DRM issue, this reminds me of how people felt about Apple's eco and operating systems 6 or 7 years ago. In the final analysis, no one is required to buy in, but this whole thing may serve to get the attention of big companies (giving them the idea of raising the bar {in paying attention to audio quality} themselves). That's a good thing.
