Somewhere around 1.5k, not counting the black 5g 30GB I/V I just got as a gift. Sounds a lot better than the old 4G I currently have. Guess I'll get rid of it and the Mini soon and p/u a Nano for my shirtpocket this summer.

$7500+

Well, there are two of us, me and Jahvetti, sharing the costs, but that's still
pretty much.

I guess we are lost souls...

You sir are in a category all your own. And yes, I say that in a blind rage of violent jealousy.

Maybe another selection should be added for this fella. Something like:

1 google (which would look like so):

1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

In March, I get a free 5G 30GB Ipod for working at my current company for 10 years. I listened both with the stock earbuds and an ancient pair of Sony MDR-6 "DIGITAL" headphones. They were both ok, but not great with the Sony's being better than the stock phones. Trying to get better sound from it led me to this forum, which I joined in early April. Since then, I've spent:

$250 HighFive
$299 UM-2
$45 4 KSC-75s
$100 Audiolineout "Cotton" lod
$80 Rockhopper Pimeta (should arrive any day)
$33 PSAudio power cord (for the HighFive)
-----
$807

I probably will get UM-56s soon and an AKG701 before the end of the year. This is pretty typical for me. When I first get into a new hobby, I'll buy a lot in the beginning. Then I'll settle down with a setup or two that I really like and the buying will all but stop for a long time. I haven't changed my speaker based system for at least 7 years. I don't suffer from "Audiophilia Nervosa". I'd much rather enjoy the music than constantly worry whether I could get a better sound.

Being a Headfile is much cheaper than being a traditional audiophile. All my purchases this year won't amount to how much my speakers cost, and I bought relatively inexpensive audiophile speakers (Joseph Audio RM7/si). One can really go nuts with tradition audiophile equipment ($75K turntables, $5-10K cartridges, etc.). So my wallet is ok.

I have spent a little over $6,000 since joining Head-fi in January. That figure should change drastically soon to incorporate some Sony R10s and some better sources for my secondary headphone systems.

Haha, I actually do want to build an ultracompact tube amp, but that's a ways off. So is my dream of owning some Stax Omega II's. That and I hate the idea of going into debt.

I think our next thread should be "How deep is your wallet?"

At about 700€ or so since ~March 2005.

My earlier hobbies (italian motorcycles and english longbows) were much more expensive.
