So how much have you spent total on what you consider head-fi gear since you started your obsession. Include headphones, portables, diy projects, amps, sources, cables, etc. both before and after joining the site. Poll is anonymous - in case your feeling some shame or a significant other is watching

If the average number is too high Im gonna block this site and never come back!

Somewhere around $1.2-1.5k, and I'm sure I'm not done yet. It makes me feel better that there are people who have spent $7500+

I've spent about 500$ without counting sources I already had. Enough for now until my HF-1s and Headfive which will put me over 1k.

This poll is obviously geared more for the relative newbies.

The options should've been:

<$200
$200 - $500
$500 - $1K
$1K - $5K
$5K - $10K
>$10K

As for the Head-Fi average, I'd estimate it between $2K and $5K. Most people here have serious rigs that cost more than $5K to build up.

It depends on whether my mp3 players count and whether or not money from selling stuff subtracts from your total amount spent.

If you sell it you only add the difference between what you bought/paid for it.

Watching the poll I agree that an additional high $ spot would help things out. But so far only a few <8% have been above $7500. Ill blame this lack of conception on my occupation.

Results:
1. The majority is still well below $1500 (74%)
2. Nearly half (47%) have spent less than $500.
3. The poll will always be biased towards those who post a lot. More gear means more interest in the hobby and more money spent. These people are more likely to read head-fi regularly and participate in the poll.

It’ll be fun to see how it looks in a few weeks. Right now it looks like there is a lag after $1500. Perhaps at this point many people start to sell things off or are satisfied/placated with their rig. I’d imagine upgrades at this point start to get in the $500-1000+ range and take a little longer to manage financially. Don’t know though – I am below this point now.

edited - should notice winks

Around 10k... but that is if I have all the gears I have ever purchased AT THE SAME TIME.

But I don't think I ever have more than 3K worth of gear at a single instance.

And that was during a transition period where I just got a new headphone and what not and selling another off, so really never above 2K worth of gear at one time.

Well, to answer the question posed as the thread title, my wallet is very empty. I'm broke as a joke...

GOOD TIMES

Heh. My R10's (one balanced, two stock) put me well over the max before I even had to look at the rest of my collection
