We are excited to introduce not one, but TWO new high end universal fitting in-ear monitors - SONORA and VOLTA.

These new models are tri-hybrid configured earphones utilizing isobaric-arranged dynamic drivers, balanced armatures, and electrostatic drivers that have been finely tuned for a wide range of genres.

Thanks to feedback and impressions from past Head-Fi tours, these models come in a new all-aluminum shell design that have been reworked for improved comfort and fit. In addition, SONORA and VOLTA pushes the envelope in earphone manufacturing by using 7-axis CNC + engraving machinery to create dedicated intricate patterns on both faceplate and body.

No compromises have been made to the connector nor internal wiring. Our proprietary rhodium plated tellurium copper 2-pin and Copper XS wires are included to ensure the new models reach optimal conductivity.

We’re also including our Copper XL with SONORA and VOLTA. These UP-OCC 18AWGx2 cables are Type 6x6 configured that eliminates electrical resistance to improve output power making the new models more efficient to drive. More importantly, they are soft and flexible to use for all purposes. They will be curated and come with matching rhodium plated 2-pin connectors, exclusive two-tone y-splitter, and your choice from various termination.

Each model also comes packed with the following:
Leather storage case
Leather storage pouch
Leather IEM bag
Leather cable organizer
Eartips (Silicone, Hybrid, and Foam in S/M/L sizes)
Cleaning tool
Microfiber cloth
Metal eartip card
Metal warranty card
Signed Thank You card
2-Year warranty

Preorders will begin this Friday, September 27 at 12AM PST and will start shipping within the next 3 to 4 weeks. The first 10 orders for each model will also receive a FREE curated TWS bluetooth cable as a special thank you to early adopters.

Isobaric DD is interesting. I wonder how it compares to the “kinetic” bass from Fir Audio or the BCD implementations other brands are chasing or the dual DD of the Spirit Torino Twin Pulse IEM.

Also any word on the passive isolation levels and sealing on these sets?

Isobaric doesn’t have a BC element and is already being used in various iterations in the likes of Fei Wan, Aura and Volur. From my experience of hearing Aura and owning Volur, I don’t think it adds a huge amount of value over a well implemented, quality single DD setup (but I could be wrong in this instance!)

Yep - I meant more like how does the bass compare between dual DD setups (isobaric or not) versus sets that use BCD to augment the bass. Different brands use BCD in different ways but I recall some claiming that it helps with bass rumble. But I don’t know first hand.

how much better in percentage terms are these compared to my hd6xx?
Asking the wrong question. Apples to oranges with totally different use cases. We need to wait on FR to even begin to compare 2500 and 3k USD units to the field nevermind a 200$ open back full sized headphone.

I'm interested in best bang for the buck performance, I think HD6xx has been outstanding in that regard for me, just wondering what the next step up is as I believe there is a declining rate of return as you spend more money.

There is declining rate of return yes. But depends. I think on certain aspects there isn’t a declining rate of return. For example ZMF makes beautiful headphones where the aesthetics aren’t just slightly better but way better.

Sonically - my guess - it is hard to know what the next level is or if it even exists until you try it and spend time with it to decide for yourself. I doubt there is much difference above $1000 (maybe 5%), but maybe 10-15% difference between $500 and $1000. Is that worth it - for most people no. But only you can answer that.

Isobaric is not the same as BCD, nor is it the same as DD.

It is not necessarily better - just a different implementation and thought process that we felt was better for our goals and intentions with these two IEMs.

We've had several different IEMs in the past, such as our first TOTL Allegro, which sold through.

I’m aware. I’m asking what the comparison is between sets with bass enhanced by BCD (which some sets use BCD for), versus dual DD, versus “true” isobaric dual DD. The Spirit Torino IEM I mentioned is dual DD and in an isobaric configuration, for example, and has great bass. Penon Rival has dual DD but not isobaric. Thieaudio Origin has BCD but not for bass. Fir has a vent pointed at the ear lobe for bass impact. Looking for someone to comment if they have experience with all these variations.
