Please pray for Kina

I know you must be going through hell. Me and my wife cant have kids, we have tried 3 times and lost them all midway through the pregnancy. So we gave up for now and our dogs are our children. We have 4 big dogs ranging in age from 8 mo. to 12 yrs. They are so close to us and such a major part of our lives, the thought of losing one is hard to imagine. Our "old man" Brutus, is the 12 yr. old. And his health has deteriorated in the last couple yrs. He takes two different meds, twice a day. So mostly its under control, but you can tell he's just getting old. The way he breaths, the way he walks, it takes him longer to get up and get around. The day will soon come I am afraid that we will have to say goodby to him. They bring us so much joy. Well anyway, me and my wife will say a prayer for Kina tonight, and for you and your loved ones.

I had to put down my 14 year old vizsla, Luke(in my avatar) two weeks ago. Last week I took another dog to the vet and waited in the same room where Luke died in my arms. It was/is very hard. I hope that Kina recovers. If not, be strong and remember that part of the responsibility you have to your dog is not to let her suffer. Now, everybody go hug their dogs.

Thanks for all of your emotional support everyone. I spoke to the vet last night. They did an ultrasound and found a mass on her spleen and a spot on her liver. They are pretty sure that the mass on her spleen is a tumor that is bleeding into her abdomen, however the vet that was on call last night wants to call in a specialist. They are going to do some more x-rays pinpointing the mass and to see if it has spread to her lungs, if it has then there is nothing more to be done and we have to make the decision. If it has not, then they might be able to remove her spleen and the section of her liver that has the spot.

We visited her yesterday evening and she doesn't seem to be in pain (at least she allowed us to pet her and hug her). I will know more later this afternoon.

My wife and I had a good cry last night. I imagine it won't be the last.

Sad to hear about your pain and sorrow. I also had to lose my beloved Happy on the new year's day, January 1st. It has been long time ago, but I remember it like yesterday. Ever since, I never got a new dog, just irreplaceable. All and best be with you.

So sorry, Jon. We went through something similar several years ago, and I sympathize profoundly. Hope everything turns out well.
