Hmm, that's an interesting question.
I guess I would say that it is ALO, but both can be adjusted and quite "tube" and quite neutral and even dry.
It is interesting that Telefunken tubes sound exactly like that - tube-like, despite the fact that for CDM it is 5719, and for Pico CCa they are, of course, completely different.

I currently have a pair of Sonotone 6021s in my CDM - I've been looking for them for a long time and the sound only gets better as they burn up.
For the Pico, I'm just using a Brimar 12AU7 tube.
Interesting with portable tube amps! I’ve tried many but not the pico. I would buy one if they still made it. Right now I really like the pb5 even though it’s nutubes

They are sometimes on sale, but extremely rare and expensive. I'm aware of what seems to be 3 ps of Origa SEs, which is an updated version of the Origa.
They were withdrawn from production at the beginning of the pandemic due to a lack of components. I don't regret buying mine, it's a really great device with a lot of features.
If I happen to see it for sale, I'll let you know.

So far, all the nutube devices I've listened to have been inferior to real tubes. By many points, but especially by dynamics. Of course, there are also bad full-size tubes - even if there is a cult around them. But there are fewer of them. And of the currently existing devices on nutube, I could not listen to any of them for a long time.

I know this set up sounds good
Yup, big detailed sound with all the presence, authority and coherence I need. Black Star is recently acquired and it's been a revelation. Great IEM.
Only complaint is they are a little too sensitive and seem to amplify the random EMI caught by the Mojo (and the M15, my on the go dac/amp).

Yessir...I want to try that Black Star too...I've heard many like you say similar good things. And I had been looking for a Verzuge amp for a minute too. I know they rock! I gotta pull the trigger on one soon. I have owned 3 over the past 5 years...its sound may not be for many (because tho its warm, its not overly tubby), but its a solid tube amp for a good price usually.

now on here I always advocate for the Oriolus 300s tube amp that has real tubes and can be bought online (and also pops up from time to time on Headfi).

This is a good device within its budget. I can't say it's anything very special, but it's definitely better than most AliExpress devices, plus it's quite small. And in general, Oriolus know how to make a good sound.
If you replace its tubes for something better, you can get a good upgrade, but for this you need to disassemble the device and resolder them. I listened to such a device with General Electric AF-6112A tubes and it was much better than stock. Although it was still inferior to CDM with the same tubes.
So for myself, I chose the ALO CV5 - the V5 itself, it allows you to change the tubes easily, smaller, and in terms of sound - it is not inferior to the Oriolus (although I have not yet compared them on the same tubes).
On the Oriolus side - balanced connection, on the CV5 side - compactness.
