I have velour pads on my 780's...great comfort and sound! :)
I had the Pearstone Deluxe Velours on mine for a while but I don't like them... The velours went onto my 8323's and the HM5's onto the 780's. Have you tried the HM5 pads yet? Incredibly soft and comfortable. :)

I remember you saying they came with velours already installed, you don't know by chance which velours they are?

No, I'm really not sure. I did get to try them with the stock pads, and the bass was better, but the treble was a bit overpowering...ssssiblance. So I went back to the velours...easy to add a little bass bump if necessary. I had to cut down a bit on headphone use anyways, so I haven't bothered looking into any other pads.

My Pro900's have turned into my grocery-grabbing pair.

Always fun to walk around with giant shiny aluminum cups on your head. (inspiration from TD)

Btw, EQ them -100db.. that treble is hot as balls.

Nice to walk around with the 'Sones at the store, one gets the looks but I don't care as I don't have to listen to muzak or undisciplined children...

Know how to repair scratches on them? (I didn't leave em there, never loaning out to family again)

There is no way I know of, my 780's are scratched and I was real careful with them too. Thin aluminum veneer is a scratch magnet IMHO, looks great but does not wear well.

Use a nice polish, autosol does well. Just YouTube it. It did wonders on my es7 cups.

Mine for now. I'm looking into a portable amp.

Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk

if the xba-4 is what you're using, it really isn't needed for an added amp.  the x3 amp is pretty stout as is

Yeah that was my mistake, I've gotten a message about it too. I was referring to an amp but not necessarily for the XBA's. Your right just with the X3 they sound good, I use the X3 for some of my open headphones too.

oh than that makes more sense to me.  Not saying you couldn't get an external amp for the xba-4; just that a lot of junior head-fiers are under the impression that adding an amp is always beneficial.

Agreed with you Teke, nice rig Tyler:) Really thought I would start seeing a lot of DX-50 and X3 rigs in this mid-fi thread! About to foray into the non iDevice DAP realm here with a DX-50/PX100 II's myself. I'll post up when they come in:wink:

Hello Everyone, I new to the forums.
I look forward to meet you guys & learn more about audio.

This is my Daily rig:

Nexus 7 2013 > CM11 M3 > USB OTG > USB DAC (Syba SD-CM-UAUD) > Interconect > JDS Labs CmoyBB v2.03 > Sony MDR-XB400

Hopefully I'll be upgrading to a Stoner Acoustics UD110v2 in the near future.
I will also upgrade my headphones, but still unsure what will work work best with current combo.
Suggestions are welcomed.
