which other tables did you consider?

My original final two were the SME 20/3 and Clearaudio Innovation wood.  Outside shot going to the Michell Orbe.

Was looking for a table in the $10K range that would not only sound great but be reliable (offer great support), set it and forget playback, and pair well with the SME V arm. I like the Avid over the others I have heard.

all interesting choices. did you ever consider any tts by VPI, Well Tempered, or any or the Teres off shoots?
the Tim de Paravicini tt looks like a masterful design (as his work tends to be), but it's price tag is well outside your budget:

The Bybee Stealth Power Purifier has arrived so I thought I'd post a photo where I'm positioning it on my rack, I'm getting some supports to lift it up so it's more central on the shelf. I've also got a new headphone stand for my SR-009's. With the Stax stand I'm going to use it with my PS500's.

very nice. maybe you need some of those big-footers - (sasquatch? Shaq?)

.
cool new headphone stand. who makes it? it's somwhat derivative of the beautiful Sieveking stands.

since the aesthetics are so important to you, may i suggest one of the Woo audio stands for your ps500s? of course you could order one of their stands for 2 phones and place both on it:

Hi Dave,
I'm going to a local stainless steel place with a drawing I've done for some footers. The stand is by Musikhaus Thomann from Germany, they do quite a few different stands with different finishing. Regarding the stand woo audio have, I've spent enough money on audio equipment so I'll not bother Ha ! Ha !. No seriously I'm happy to use my Stax stand for the PS500's.

                    Dave.

It is indeed a lovely stand - did you have to cannibalize an existing Stax stand in order to get the logo?

I'm sorry to say I did but I much prefer that new stand over the Stax, also I was able to take that badge off without damaging the Stax stand in anyway. I think my SR-009's look a lot better on that stand than the Stax one so I couldn't help myself in putting the Stax badge on it.

P.S. There's glue around the Stax badge but I thought I'd wait until it dried properly before I removed it.

Had the VPI SSM signature before the Michell/SME combo. Listen to the new  WT table quite a bit. Neither is in the level of the Avid. Have not heard the Teres, but love the looks.

the picture above is the e.a.r. disc master, of course. the teres tt had many looks as the original one was an internet group think diy project that was implemented in many different ways. eventually the guy that was central to the effort took it commercial and his units have had different looks over the years. there were a couple of other commercial spin-offs, i think all based out of colorado, iirc. one was galibier and the other i cannot recall at the moment. what started out as an affordable high-end table with the original teres project ended up becoming very pricey boutique tts!

Because I like how my PS500's look on this stand so much, I've decided to order another one. The one in the photo has a walnut bottom but the one I've just ordered has mahogany, but same black section.

maybe they can make one with a wenge base, eh?
