I just absolutely can't figure out how those Harbeth's can sound compared to other high-end speakers like the Nautilus 800 or Avalon or Evolution Acoustics or anything else in that range? Thanks!

Well you've to hear it to believe. It just sound so musical than hifi sounding. Fyi, I've some friends that downgraded from their super high end speakers like Wilson Audio, Audio Note, Avantgarde Acoustics, B&W to humble Harbeth SHL5/M40.1 after hearing them. And I'm one of them.

I just may look seriously into moving my speaker buying time-line up.

Quick question before the moderator scolds me!
In a small apartment "room is 12 W by 22 L" would the 5 open up better at lower volumes or would the 7 series work better for my needs? (apartment volume listening)

I think either would work just fine. Dont forget about the M30 either.

Nice system you've there. Go for the SHL5 which has much better mid and bass. The C7 is nice as well but once you heard the SHL5, there's no going back. As tom hankins mentioned, M30 is worth checking out too. The best is of course the M40.1 which put my SHL5 to shame. But I'll need a bigger room to tame it.

Yeah, I would say so. Although at the lower end of its range.
The Cary units looks really nice, but the GS1000i is not all that regarded...

I tried HD800, ED8, and GS-1000i. Came out that I enjoyed GS the most

Beautiful setups, everyone. But I see an awful lot of these large wooden structures--"speakers" I think you call them--for a headphone forum. Here's my headphone only setup:

Very nice! We need 2 pictures, what is stacked up on the right?

If you could only keep one ie. Electrostatic or dynamic? what would it be?

I am listening to those wooden boxes right now, as my headphone amp. is getting an Extreme makeover.

And my meantime replacement headphone amp. and DAC, won't be here until Monday.

I guess I will just suffer tonight! LOL.
