Pictures Of Your High End System II (Same Rules Apply)

Just got back into headphone audio, and this is a work in progress, but here's my current pile of Schiit monopolizing my desk! Trying out lots of different combinations before I decide where to land...which might end up being to keep a versatile setup, who knows.

Shown:
Headphones: DCA Stealth, HIFIMAN Susvara
Amps: Schiit Folkvangr, Ragnarok 2, Mjolnir 3, and Mjolnir 2
EQ: Schiit Loki Max
DAC: Schiit Yggdrasil+ OG
Cables: Mogami Platinum Studio 3 ft XLR except for Folkvangr, which is World's Best Cables Mogami W2549/Rean RCA
Other: Douk audio ONE Little Bear 1-to-3 XLR switch -- not currently connected, but will insert into signal chain for easy amp switching if I keep more than one balanced amp.
Risers: Sound Addicted Sub Cone Isolation Feet (Silicone Non-Adhesive) -- from Amazon. Not perfect, but best thing I could find to be able to quickly reorganize things without any permanent changes. If anyone knows of permanent riser feet (1+ inch) specifically for Schiit gear, I'd love to know.

Not shown:
Headphones: Sennheiser HD800S and HD820, Audeze LCD-R, DCA Aeon 2 Noire, Sony MDR-7506
Amps: Schiit Jotunheim 2 and Jotunheim A

wow. lots of schiit gear. how does the MJ3 power the susvara?

To my ear, MJ3 drives the Susvara well and sounds best in push-pull Class A with feedback for most music.

To offer some of my notes for the curious, Ragnarok 2 is my clear favorite with all headphones for having unlimited power, fantastic depth of soundstage, imaging, and detail, yet a non-fatiguing presentation. That said, I've been enjoying switching up the presentation depending on the headphone I'm using and the music I'm listening to. Mjolnir 2 still packs a serious punch impact-wise, Mjolnir 3 has almost as much punch but is smoother and more refined (particularly in SE Class A which is almost too smooth in the highs), and Folkvangr is its own beast with excellent detail retrieval and dynamics (with stock tubes at least -- I haven't rolled) at the cost of less power and more distortion (e.g. Folkvangr is not the best choice for Susvara). All very unique presentations, and I'm thinking about going ahead and cabling them up on the switch rather than selling down to a single "best".

These are just my opinions; I'm biased, like everyone else, and I haven't heard everything in the world.

Gorgeous - immaculate condition
Thanks! Never thought I’d get the chance to even hear one. Sometimes the stars align though.

I can only imagine how sweet that system sounds.
It is top tier for sure. Ranks right up there with my Omega hybrid and Perun Rock through the KGGG amp in terms of naturalness going off of memory. I can’t make any direct comparisons because I’ve been without my Perun Rock since October and I sold my KGGG in April. Direct comparison will have to wait until I have a world class amp that can feed all my headphones.

Here is my system - the centre of our house where we spend many hours in the evening listening to music, reading, working, talking. When the CD shelves are closed and no CDs lying around (somehow that never happens though), the Hifi technology is nicely hidden and it is almost a normal living room. Originally the speakers were left and right of the components but it sounds much better this way. With the help of 2 long pairs of XLR cables I now have a nice headphone station and the loudspeakers at the perfect position for the room.

Because I have no dedicated listening room, hiding cables from my wife's eyes is a critical success factor!

The Antileon amplifier has 2 sets of output terminals which allows for perfect bi-wiring.

85 kg class A power per channel

The whole system is class A, fully double mono and balanced. The Pandora has two pre-outs, used here for the Antileon monos and the STAX amp.

Next project is upgrading my STAX corner with a new and better headphone amplifier and at a later stage with a new 009 series STAX.
