Does anyone know about the process for testing against "identical golden samples"?  Is this done when the driver is in the headphone, with the earpads in place?
 
I take issue with much of the statement, but bravo to Philips for coming out and addressing some of the problems.

  Mr David Bowie just passed away after 18 months fighting against cancer. How sad. And i just realized that his last album, Blackstar, which came out 2 days ago, is a way he is telling about his dead, but no one realized it. He tried to put an end for his career. What if Phillips chooses not to say anything? This statement admitted the misuse of glue and told us something related with the pads, two main issues concerning all of us.

Or: We've found a new manufacturer, who produces the headphones at less costs, but consistency of the products may vary as a result.
Like they are ever to admit something like that. They'll never make a statement that hurts their commercial interests.
I'm always wary of commercial statements like this. seeing and hearing is believing, let's wait until the new batches arrive and people can evaluate those.

Interestingly the item has now gone under review by amazon UK after the price plummeted.  Mine has not yet dispatched... I'm wondering whether it will now.

I suppose dropping from £300 to £200 is considered "plummeting" but £300 is very much over-priced, and £200 is currently about $289 USD.  Not exactly a great deal.

The one I got still had glued earpads.  No other issues though.

Yeah that was because of me lol. I was asking if the glue, metal trim issue and sq differences was sorted because so far i've had 3 pairs since around 20th of Dec and all had issues. They told me in Dec that it would go under investigation but it never did, so they told me they'd do it now.
