Philips Fidelio X2?!

I haven't tried many headphones. I can assure that, in terms of soundstage, X2 > DT770 (closed back), but I wouldn't say that X2 is... that good. DT880 have a wider soundstage while X2 is more tall/deep. With my setup, it sounds right but nothing extraordinary. You might wanna try the Q701 or similar

Or try some crossfeed software....  there is some built into JRiver, etc if you really want that "out of body" headphone experience :)

@gangnamstyle     They are back to $250

You know, I'd actually be more attracted to the $200.34 Used - Very Good (Damaged Packaging) ones. I got my Q701 for $150 like that, and it was brand new. The box just had a little ding. What a deal! But if you're afraid of damage, it's understandable.
Edit: I agree with the post under this one. Like New (Damaged Packaging) is even better!

I have had good luck with used like new. $212.87 not too bad.

Now that's what I'm talking about. You're getting a new one, so you don't even have to worry about it being damaged^^. Win-win.

Sheesh, I'm liking my X2 more and more every time I listen to it. The bass doesn't seem overpowering at all anymore. And I hardly perceive any of the dips in its frequency response. It's really rivaling my Q701 now, which I never expected it to do.

Do low resistance headphones like these benefit as much from a good amp, or is the difference less noticeable?

There are subtle differences. Of course a better amp will make the sound better but be aware of the rule of diminishing returns.

For those complaining that the x2`s aren`t up to snuff, I felt the same way, however, let them burn in for at least 100 hrs. and you`ll hear a terrific hp. :) Even after 100 hrs. they just keep getting better and better.
