If someone could add the L2 and Sony MDR-7520 to the mix, that'd be even something something :D

Actually.....i was going to do a huge soundstage-comparison session for a german forum between AKG K501, K340, K812, K1000, Sony MA900, sennheiser hd598 & HD800, Beyerdynamic T90 & T1, Fostex Th900, Shure srh1890 & 940, superlux 681-B, philips fidelio X1.

Problem is, that i gave away my ma900 and now i'm searching for it. Its gotten rare in germany and expensive. Maybe i'll let he sony Z7 join the comparison. But first i have to hear it. If the ma900 has better soundstage , there's no reason to add the Z7. If the X2 is signifficantly different from x1, it may join too ;D

Daym I was really hoping they would have good and fast bass punch.

This is the kind of music I want it to keep up with.

What do u think? (I've tried the 880 dt and I wasn't impressed with the bass. I tried the hd-650's and also just meh.)

Tried this with the DT880 and a 9,1 DB bump at Bass and its sounds okay you will however have to turn up a lot to feel any bass. The song in itself(version 125 689 534 version of Robert Miles - Children) is really crapy, not much bass in the "right" section. Many "popular" songs have alot more bass then this track.

After using these for a few hours it is clear Philips have gone for a more 'reference' sound. You can still tell they are related to the X1's by that all-around 3D presentation I remember from the X1's.

However, the FR on these do seem different. There is a definitely spike in lower treble which was never apparent from the previous model and is causing me a few wincing moments. Mid/lower bass feels noticeably less too (lower bass on par with sr80i, mid bass more). In two minds so far...

Well, this description would be in line with Tyll's review and its comparison with HD600..

Similar to the HD600 in some ways but a completely different presentation. The 600's were never as 'edgy' as what I've been currently hearing. I'm hoping that bass edition pad baycode mentioned earlier is released very soon and that it is a flatter pad which will help mellow the treble (not so concerned about the bass right now).

On a separate note, did you receive yours yet? I'm 99% sure mine were delivered from a UK warehouse and not Italy so kudos to Amazon for getting it out quicker than expected.

I never had a problem with treble, also I find the highs to be pleasantly smooth. What is your source? How many hours have you played the music with it?

I have had the l2,k712,t90, and 7520 and have preordered the x2 and z7

but it would be tight if someone had em all together. Memory is faulty here at times but for me as a consumer and products I like I am interested in the x2 and l2 vs the Master and Dynamic MH40 here they allll use neodymium drivers.

Laptop, Sony dap (laptop ever so slightly brighter). Not had much time on them (about 5 hours) though not really expecting lower treble to smooth out unless of course I can get the pads to a flatten over time which seems unlikely comparing to my heavily used X1 pads. Do you know when the different ear pads are being released?

Are you used to warm cans? Just wondering, I don't expect them to be as bright as DT 880 or AKG K7**, am I right?
