Hey,
Can anyone recommend a good quality shorter cable from experience preferably, lots of choice on the likes of Amazon, not looking to spend a fortune but equally would like something as good as the stock cable but shorter, cheers!

Thanks Madwolfa,
Looks ideal but I should have mentioned I'm in the uk and it doesn't appear to be available on Amazons uk site, will have a good search round to see if available from somewhere else though!

Somebody else liking them so much and have been thinking about using then in public although looking like a fool?

Not as primary portables, but rather not taking them of just because you have to go but some food and come back.

Thanks Guys, got a nasty "memory effect" on my stock cable where it was folded for packing! Does that ever go away?

Mine stayed the same after a month or so - stiff, unwieldy and noisy. So V-MODA cable sorted it out for me. If you can find one - I highly recommend it.

PLz let me know how you mod the x2 with the replacement pads. I've been thinking about it, but i dont have a clue how to get different pads on the plastic backplate with the four pins of the original ear pads.

I'm packing my Fid Elio Castros up and sending them back. I believe I ventured into the wrong end of the headphone spectrum with these. Too many bass heads around. Looking at planars(400i) or Grados or simply going back to the ath family.

Take the original pads off. Take the new pads, stretch them over the entire earcup. Hope the pegs don't poke you in the ear while wearing.

That's how I did it with the hm5 I have. Takes a bit of stretching and a lot of patience. I'm hoping I can find someone with a trashed pair of earpads that I can get dirt cheap so I can just salvage the mounting plates (hint, hint).

And I'm returning my K712. They do shine with some classical music, but X2 is pretty close and as good or better with everything else, where AKG becomes a bit clinical and harsh. X2 is just so sweet and joy to listen to...
