Philips Fidelio X2?!

They'll do fine on anything, but I'd say go with a more neutral amp with these, something like the Schiit Magni 2. It's cheap, powerful, and more then you'll ever need for these.

I have an EF-5. Will that do? It's not neutral. I'm guessing a magni 2 won't exactly be an 'upgrade' but it might be more neutral. know what I mean?

I totally I agree that the X2 leaves something to be desired in the mids. I do crank up the volume more than I want, to reach good vocal saturation. Good luck with your next upgrade. If ever buy iems soon, the Velvets will be on top of my list.

Have you ever tried the Senn HD700? I sold mine but am looking to pick up another pair. They are a better X2 in the mids. Very good sounding headphone... I am keeping my X2 since they are a bargin and the BASS is very good.

If I were you I'd wait for Sennheiser HD 630 VB and Audioquest Nighthawk. HD700 has a weird sound, I never could like it. Besides HD 630 is closed back, Nighthawk is semi open back. They'd complement open back X2s better in my opinion.

Debating between a Fulla vs Modi2/Magni2 combo to pair up with the X2s. The price different is quite significant. With tax, the difference in price is about $150. With that said, how big of a difference is it between the Fulla vs Modi2/Magni2? I'm leaning towards the Fulla due to the price.

For any Modest Mouse fans check out Isaac Brock on his often over looked side project Ugly Casanova. The whole album sounds great through the X2 !

Did not expect them to drop in price at all. Someone said Philips was planning to raise the price? Even the warehouse sets dropped in price. For some people, they will be deciding between K7XX or used X2 for the same price.

At $248 I might have kept my X2. Sub-bass is amazing on them, but the treble was often too edgy for me with them straight out of my laptop. It's now 2 months later and I'm planning to get an amp, the HD650, and a DAC. I wonder if I had these upgrades back when I had the X2 if they would have refined and smoothed out its treble enough. Oh well. Excellent price for newcomers.
