Philips Fidelio S1 and S2 - New IEMs with semi-closed back

Went from Philips SHE9800 to these but I can't really tell the difference between the two. Too bad the old 9800's are more comfortable. I hope the S2 will shine after the burn-in period.

Anyone know how I can open up the IEMs? I failed a bit last week and accidently filled one of them with a bit of silicone which made it only play bass and some mids. Its not like it sounding bad but voice sounds like it coming 2/3 to left instead of in the middle which is a bit annoying.

For those who cannot get a good seal with the included silicone eartips, try the UE medium bore silicones, the ones that come with UE500,600,700 and 900. The bore lenght and width is pretty much the same but the flange is rounder and wider towards the top, which makes all the difference.

How is the isolation? I wouldn't mind hearing hearing oncoming cars while I'm cycling to school/work. S2 seems like a nice upgrade over my few years old Bose IE1.

I just got the S1. The bass and mids are very good, but the treble is can be very harsh and sibilant with some songs.

I feel the same way about my S2

I actually pulled out my S2 for the first time in a long while today (for a comparison with the TX2) and their were no tips on them. Since I couldn't remember what tips I used with them I pulled out a few to try. With the first 5-6 pairs the highs were so harsh, I couldn't recall I've felt this before so I kept changing tips as finally kaboom! Just how I remembered them, so tips are very important with them.

The ones that worked for me were some silicon tips from my Gratitude's.

I'm curious about these, amazon UK cite them as being made from titanium, not copper, so that puzzles me...

Looking at something compliment my Senn IE800...
