my pet peeves:

people, who! can;t punctuate
indian translation grammar (this isn't meant to be racist, hindi is not an easy language to learn, and I realize it is structured very differently, but "thanking you kindly be telling me how I am to be doing" gets pretty annoying, pretty quick)
and the biggest one of all time:
the inability of younger kiddies (this means ~25 and down) to read through sarcasm, tongue-in-cheek, or other off the cuff forms of humor/irony, and then to add to this peeve, when they take it as a personal insult, get huffy, and act like its time to "man up and defend honor, ME HE MAN!!" (oh and if you were curious, this, this peeve relates to the entire post, IRONY MUCH??)

Yes there is a proper way to speak and write, and I believe the degradation is indicative of a myriad of issues, but in spite of the errors, slang, and typo's we have seen a dramatic increase in communication through the internet.
A great deal of it has even been positive.
