Hopefully they don't kill the Dualshock, since it really is the best controller to ever grace the console market. My guess, though, is that they'll keep the same basic design, but throw in some unneeded bells and whistles.

I swear, the Wii is the worst thing to happen to console gaming. Now every company thinks they need some sort of control gimmick to sell consoles.

Only problem is that this is kinda true. They are selling much more consoles.

The Kinect gave the X360 another 1-2 years of life basically

Best case scenario, DS2 controller or better but with things like USB charging and connectivity like the DS3, wireless, and motion sensing for the ones who care. IT MUST BE ALL ANALOG! PRESSURE SENSITIVE BUTTONS FTW!

I like it because the games are fun and it really is a revolution in my eyes. It's also made record breaking sales (the original Wii that is).

Historically, the consoles have sold just fine without a control gimmick. And the Sixaxis, Playstation Eye, and Move did little, if any to boost the sales of the system.

I think Playstation just caters to a different crowd, so they really don't need the extra control gimmicks. And god knows motion controls and stuff don't make games play any better. Just look at the mess that was Skyward Sword.

Yeah but I guess that historic examples wouldn't always work out

If we were to always follow historic examples, innovation wouldn't be like it is today.

Stereotropic 3D gaming failed horribly, that doesn't mean we shouldn't try that later on.

I have a PS move and sharpshooter, fun for FPS games, but most aren't even build around the damn things (Resistance 3 for ex.) LBP2's move content was just a chore.

I am hopeful for Oculus Rift's VR tech. They're impressed quite a few people, people who make games in particular. Even if it takes half a decade to make it viable to own and not regretful crapware:

Man, ever since I started downsampling my Fraps folder has exploded in file size. It was over 4GB, of just screenshots, but I was able to whittle it down to just 2.5GB.

Honestly, what games do get special PC features? Most multiplatform games are just the same on PC as they are on consoles (unless they were built around PC first).

Some games have downloadable hi-res textures, aren't limited to 30FPS (DmC for ex). It's not a dealbreaker, and some ports are actually worse (Dark Souls).

You know, Deus Ex is a pretty nice looking game. Maybe not the best use of UE3, technically, but artistically it is no doubt the best.

Exactly. It's not at all common for PC games to get special treatment, so I don't see why people are disappointed that DS3 isn't coming with extra goodies. You still get higher resolution, better AA, and better framerate, and in many cases, a lower price. Woe is PC gaming.

Many games do. But the first focus is still consile.

Crsysis 2 had a main console start out on release. But they were able to get PC specific master race packs out. Not to mention they had dedicated pc teams
