Panasonic HTF600 vs Koss PortaPros

Alright, I'm tied between the two of these. I listen to more bass heavy stuff (hardcore techno such as happy hardcore). And I also want phones that I can wear on my head for hours. Oh and some gaming I'll get a headset down the road.
 
What I like of the HTF600:
 
-Better frequency range
-Looks more modern/fancy
-Longer cord
 
What I dislike:
 
-Bulky, they look big. I wouldn't really be travelling with these at all, but the fact they would take up a bunch of room kind of turns me off.
 
What I like of the PortaPros:
 
-Retro look
-Much smaller, would pack away nicely and cleanly, not big, bulky, etc.
-Lifetime Warranty
 
What I dislike:
 
-Cord is only 4 feet
-Lower frequency range
 
....
 
In all honesty, which would you go with if you had the choice? If there's a better choice out there for $35 or less....throw it out there!

The HTF600 is better in all ways than the PortaPro for what you want, except in portability. They are, however, very light. If you can get past them being bigger than the tiny PortaPro, you'll be really satisfied with them.

Are they really that light? When I think of these big cans, I can't help but feel that...the force on them clamps my ears so damn tight it gets to hurt after an hour or so. That and when they sit on top of your head, you feel them move etc.
 
I got a medium size head if that helps lol.
 
Oh and I wear glasses too. Would those at all interfere?

A little "big", yes, but still very light. I had no problem wearing them 3+ hours at a time, especially with velour pads.

Even with the stock pads? I'm sold. I have no means to purchase the Velour pads but...
 
Just purchased them for $30. Hopefully that was a good price/choice ._.

Stock pads are still quite comfortable, just not as much so as velour. They are a wonderful price/performance choice, you'll really like them!

The stock pads get so warm.. That's my only complaint with the htf600 because otherwise they are amazing.. I'm now debating whether I should buy the velour pads or return the 600s and buy a better pair of headphones for ~60.. I'd probably have to go a little higher to get a better price/performer though so I'm not sure =/

i've owned the portapro and listened to the panasonics, the panasonics are more transparent. They are both great for the price, can't go wrong either way.

Just a thought... the Koss KSC75 drivers ($20) on the Part-express headband ($2) sounds quite amazing, and the headband is very light and comfortable. But, I just re-read your post and this combo may not be portable enough for you. Another thought is the Senn PX100-II which from what I've read is very good and somewhat portable. Anyway, good luck!

What's meant by transparent?
 
And is the warmth that much of an issue? I've read about it. And I can't personally say I've had a pair of headphones get warm on me.

It's not that much of an issue but they do get quite warm to the point where sweat starts to form from time to time.. As long as you're fine with adjusting them from time to time to get air in there so your face can breathe you'll be fine lol.. They are worth the minor discomfort

I'm quite shocked at how powerful these are. It's like a mini version of my car speakers .
 
I'm even hearing instruments I haven't heard EVER in any kind of speaker before which is quite astonishing.
 
Only complaint is so far I can feel the heat on my ears and in summer time that's kind of killer >_>

Save up for the $20 DT250-compatible velour pads. It stops the sweating/heat, and is more comfortable.

Cheapest is $18.50 on ebay...
 
I'll probably cave in the future. Currently trying to sell some stuff to make $$$.
